  • Orioles' Jackson Holliday: Dealing with knee issue

Holliday is not in the starting lineup Wednesday against the Rays due to a knee injury, Rich Dubroff of BaltimoreBaseball.com reports.

The Orioles had originally planned for Holliday to play against Tampa Bay on Wednesday, but the team is being cautious, according to Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com. With Holliday sidelined, Jordan Westburg is making the start at second base for Baltimore with Jeremiah Jackson entering the starting nine at third base.

  • Donovan Walton 2B | LAA

Phillies' Donovan Walton: Booted off 40-man roster

The Phillies designated Walton for assignment Wednesday.

He's clearing out to make room on the roster for the return of Edmundo Sosa (groin). Walton played infrequently after being added to the roster earlier this month, logging a total of nine plate appearances.

  • Edmundo Sosa 3B | PHI

Phillies' Edmundo Sosa: Activated from injured list

The Phillies activated Sosa (groin) from the 10-day injured list Wednesday.

Sosa has missed the last couple weeks of action with a right groin strain, but he's been able to work out lately with no issues, clearing the way for his return to the active roster. The activation of Sosa could allow the Phillies to return Bryson Stott to second base until Trea Turner (hamstring) makes his way back this weekend.

  • Orioles' Jackson Holliday: Out of lineup Wednesday

Holliday is not in the starting lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rays.

With Holliday idle, Dylan Beavers moves up to the leadoff spot for the first time in his career. Jordan Westburg shifts over to second base and will bat second, as Jeremiah Jackson enters the starting nine at third base, hitting in the nine hole. In his first full season at the big-league level, Holliday is slashing .245/.316/.381 with 17 home runs, 55 RBI, 69 runs scored, 17 stolen bases and a 54:139 BB:K across 636 plate appearances.

  • Adam Frazier 2B | LAA

Royals' Adam Frazier: Notches 20th double

Frazier went 2-for-5 with a double and two RBI in Tuesday's 8-4 win over the Angels.

Frazier stretched the Royals' lead with a two-run double in the seventh inning, though he was cut down trying to stretch it into a triple. The light-hitting second baseman owns just a .683 OPS through 129 games, but Tuesday's double was his 20th of the year -- his seventh season with 20 or more. The 33-year-old has been steady at the plate lately, collecting hits in seven of his past eight contests.

  • Jazz Chisholm CF | NYY

Yankees' Jazz Chisholm: Surging toward playoffs

Chisholm went 3-for-3 with a walk, a run scored and a stolen base in Tuesday's 3-2 win over the White Sox.

The 27-year-old helped the Yankees clinch a postseason berth with another strong performance. Over his last 12 games, Chisholm is slashing .333/.373/.542 with three of his 31 homers on the season and four of his 31 steals, along with six runs and nine RBI.

  • Cody Freeman SS | TEX

Rangers' Cody Freeman: Could finish season at 2B

Freeman started at second base and went 0-for-3 in Tuesday's 4-1 loss to Minnesota.

Freeman made a sixth consecutive start at second base and could finish out the regular season there as the primary starter, after the Rangers announced Marcus Semien (foot) was being shut down. Freeman has gone 4-for-19 with a home run, three RBI and a stolen base during his six-start run.

  • Nick Yorke 2B | PIT

Pirates' Nick Yorke: Five-game hitting streak

Yorke went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored Tuesday against the Reds.

Yorke has started eight of Pittsburgh's last nine games, taking over as the team's primary second baseman. He's made good use of that opportunity, hitting .250 with four RBI and four runs scored. He's also currently riding a five-game hitting streak. Yorke is likely auditioning for a roster spot to begin the 2026 campaign.

  • Cardinals' Brendan Donovan: Four doubles in win

Donovan went 4-for-5 with four doubles, one RBI and one run scored in Tuesday's 9-8 win over the Giants.

Donovan missed Monday's game due to groin tightness, but he was able to get cleared in time to play Tuesday. He played a vital role in the Cardinals' offense in this game with the quartet of two-baggers. He's up to 31 doubles on the year, which is three shy of his career-high total from 153 games last season. Donovan has added a .287/.354/.421 slash line with 10 home runs, 49 RBI, 63 runs scored and three stolen bases over 117 contests in 2025.

  • Nico Hoerner 2B | CHC

Cubs' Nico Hoerner: Big game in loss

Hoerner went 3-for-5 with an RBI and four runs scored in Tuesday's 9-7 loss to the Mets. He also stole a base.

With New York starting lefty David Peterson, Hoerner batted leadoff instead of Michael Busch, and the former responded with a standout performance. The speedy infielder set a new season high in runs scored, and he's been red hot lately with a .412 batting average over his last 12 games. Hoerner also has 29 stolen bases this season, putting him within striking distance of his third straight 30-steal campaign.
