Richard Palacios 2B | TB
Rays' Richie Palacios: Getting night off against lefty
Palacios is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rangers, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
After starting in each of the Rays' last three games, the left-handed-hitting Palacios will retreat to the bench while southpaw MacKenzie Gore takes the mound for the Rangers. Ben Williamson will replace Palacios at second base and will bat seventh.

Josh H. Smith 3B | TOR
Rangers' Josh Smith: Sitting against lefty bulk reliever
Smith is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rays.
Right-hander Casey Legumina is opening the game for the Rays, but he's likely to work just an inning or two before left-hander Ian Seymour takes over in bulk relief. With that in mind, the Rangers will send three of their key left-handed bats in Smith, Evan Carter and Joc Pederson to the bench to begin Wednesday's contest. Smith had started in each of the Rangers' last four games, but he could be the odd man out for a regular spot in the infield when Corey Seager (back) likely makes his return from the injured list later this week.

Edouard Julien 2B | COL
Rockies' Edouard Julien: On bench to open Wednesday's game
Julien is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Padres.
Julien was included in the lineup for the first two games of the series and went 1-for-6 with a double and a run scored, but he'll take a seat to begin Wednesday's contest while southpaw Kyle Hart opens the game for the Padres. The Rockies could summon the left-handed-hitting Julien from the bench at some point during the contest once Hart exits and right-hander Griffin Canning takes over in bulk relief.

Christian Koss 3B | SF
Giants' Christian Koss: Filling in at 3B for Schmitt
Koss will start at third base and bat ninth in Wednesday's game against the Giants.
Koss will pick up a second straight start at third base in place of Casey Schmitt (knee), who has been diagnosed with a torn meniscus that will likely require season-ending surgery. Though he currently sits atop the depth chart, Koss' run as an everyday player will be short-lived. Giants manager Tony Vitello said that Matt Chapman (abdomen) should be ready to come off the 10-day injured list at some point during the club's series with the Padres later this week, at which point Koss will shift back into a utility role.

Marcus Semien 2B | NYM
Mets' Marcus Semien: On bench for first game of day
Semien is out of the lineup for the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader with Atlanta.
The veteran second baseman will get a breather for the first contest of the day, but expect him to return to the starting nine for the nightcap. Brett Baty will receive the nod at second base and will bat eighth in Game 1 of the twin bill.
-
Zach McKinstry 2B | DET
Tigers' Zach McKinstry: Idle against lefty
McKinstry is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Orioles.
The Tigers will send the left-handed-hitting McKinstry to the bench while southpaw Trevor Rogers takes the hill for the Orioles in the series finale. Matt Vierling will draw the start in right field in McKinstry's stead and will bat eighth.

Sam Shaw 2B | TOR
Blue Jays' Sam Shaw: Shelved at High-A
High-A Vancouver placed Shaw on the 7-day injured list July 9 due to an unspecified injury.
Shaw didn't debut for Vancouver until June 7, after he opened the season on the 60-day injured list while recovering from a blood clot near his shoulder, which stemmed from thoracic outlet syndrome, per Steve Ewen of The Vancouver Province. The Blue Jays haven't revealed if Shaw's latest move to the IL is related to the blood clot or the result of a different injury. Shaw had fared well over about a month's worth of action at Vancouver, slashing .239/.427/.535 with six home runs and three stolen bases in 21 games.
-
Jackson Holliday 2B | BAL
Orioles' Jackson Holliday: Not starting versus Skubal
Holliday is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's contest in Detroit.
It's lefty ace Tarik Skubal on the bump for the Tigers, so the left-handed-hitting Holliday will grab a seat even after picking up six hits over the first two games of the series. Jeremiah Jackson will handle second base for the Orioles.
-
Xavier Edwards 2B | MIA
Marlins' Xavier Edwards: Swipes 17th bag Tuesday
Edwards went 1-for-2 with two walks and a stolen base in Tuesday's win over the Phillies.
The switch-hitting second baseman has been busy on the basepaths of late, swiping three bags in the last five games to reach 17 on the season. Over his last 30 contests, Edwards has compiled a .304/.380/.366 slash line with three doubles, two triples, eight runs and 11 RBI, but he hasn't launched a homer since May 19.

Brandon Lowe 2B | PIT
Pirates' Brandon Lowe: Sparks ninth-inning comeback
Lowe went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run, a double and a walk in Tuesday's 8-7 extra-innings loss to the Diamondbacks.
Lowe's two-run shot in the bottom of the ninth allowed the Pirates to force extra innings, but Pittsburgh would end up losing in 12 innings. Lowe has been seeing the ball well lately, and this was his third consecutive multi-hit contest. He's hitting .314 with an .861 OPS, a homer, three doubles, five RBI and six runs scored since the All-Star break.
