McLain was scratched from Saturday's lineup against Milwaukee due to a tight left hamstring.

McLain had been penciled in at DH before being scratched, and that role will now be assumed by TJ Friedl, while Blake Dunn will move into the lineup in center field.

Rengifo (hamstring) will start at third base and bat second Saturday against the Guardians, Erica Weston of Bally Sports West reports.

Tawa was called up from Triple-A Reno prior to Saturday's contest, and he'll get a chance to make an impression right away by starting at the keystone in what will be his MLB debut. Tawa's opportunity comes as a result of Ketel Marte (hamstring) landing on the injured list Saturday. In six games at Reno prior to his call-up, Tawa slashed .391/.462/.957 with three home runs, 13 RBI, eight runs and two stolen bases.

The Diamondbacks recalled Tawa from Triple-A Reno on Saturday.

With Ketel Marte (hamstring) headed for the injured list, Tawa will come up from the minors to replenish Arizona's infield depth. The 25-year-old has been phenomenal since reaching Triple-A last season, slashing .317/.368/.665 with 13 homers and 39 RBI across 183 plate appearances. He'll be making his MLB debut whenever he gets into a game.

The Diamondbacks placed Marte on the 10-day injured list Saturday with a left hamstring strain.

Marte made an early exit from Friday's contest after hurting himself running to second base on a first-inning double, and he'll now be kept on the sideline until at least April 15. Tim Tawa was recalled from Triple-A Reno to fill the open roster spot, though Garrett Hampson will likely be the one seeing more time at second base until Marte returns.

Torres (oblique) began hitting off a tee in the batting cages Saturday, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

Torres said afterward that his oblique is beginning to feel much better, though there is still no timeline in place for his return. He's eligible to return from the injured list Tuesday but will likely require more than a minimum-length stay.

Garcia isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against Arizona, Spencer Nusbaum of The Washington Post reports.

Left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez will start Saturday's game on the bump, so Garcia will stay put in the dugout while Amed Rosario starts at the keystone and bats second.

A number of middle infielders classified as light-hitting have been displaying surprising power early in 2025, a group led by the Dodgers' Tommy Edman (five homers in nine games), but Turang has put himself among that group with some loud contact of his own. The 25-year-old absolutely smoked a Nick Martinez cutter in the fifth inning Friday, depositing it 418 feet away over the right-center-field fence for what proved to be the winning runs. Turang had seven homers in 155 regular-season games last year with an average exit velocity in the 14th percentile, and a hard-hit rate in the ninth percentile. Through his first eight games of 2025 he's already gone yard twice, and while the sample size is very small, he boasts an AEV in the 84th percentile and a hard-hit rate in the 60th percentile.
