  • Rays' Christopher Morel: Pair of extra-base hits

Morel went 2-for-5 with a double, a triple and an RBI on Tuesday against the Phillies.

Morel got off to a slow start with the Rays but has managed at least one hit in 13 of his last 20 games. He's still lacked power in that span (.368 slugging percentage), so Tuesday's effort was an encouraging sign.

  • Nico Hoerner 2B | CHC

Cubs' Nico Hoerner: Tallies three hits in win

Hoerner went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI in Tuesday's win over the Dodgers.

Hoerner tallied his fifth multi-hit effort over his last nine games and has now notched at least one hit in 12 of his last 15 games. Hoerner lacks power but remains one of the Cubs' most consistent hitters and leads the team with 28 stolen bases. For the year, he's slashing .263/.330/.356 with five homers, 42 RBI, 76 runs and a 41:63 BB:K in 576 plate appearances.

  • Andres Gimenez 2B | TOR

Guardians' Andres Gimenez: Swipes bag in win

Gimenez went 2-for-5 with a stolen base and one RBI in Tuesday's 5-0 win over the White Sox.

Gimenez saw a seven-game hitting streak end Monday, but he was right back at it with his second multi-hit effort of the month. The second baseman's improved batting in the second half of the season has helped him return to the No. 2 spot in the order versus right-handers after spending much of the campaign in the bottom half of the lineup. Gimenez is now at a .254/.304/.342 slash line with 28 steals, eight home runs, 58 RBI and 60 runs scored over 137 contests.

  • Jose Altuve 2B | HOU

Astros' Jose Altuve: Gets on base four times

Altuve went 3-for-5 with a double, a walk and two RBI in Tuesday's 4-3 extra-innings loss to the Athletics.

Altuve has multiple hits in four straight games, and he's added at least one double and one RBI in each of those contests. Since Aug. 27, he's batting .385 (20-for-52) with a home run, six doubles, six RBI and 12 runs scored over 13 games. The second baseman's surge has him up to a .304/.359/.452 slash line with 19 homers, 20 stolen bases, 62 RBI and 86 runs scored through 140 games overall.

  • Zack Gelof 2B | ATH

Athletics' Zack Gelof: Homer, steal in extra-innings win

Gelof went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, a stolen base and two total runs scored in Tuesday's 4-3 extra-innings win over the Astros.

Gelof notched his second multi-hit effort in a row and extended his hitting streak to six games. He's also swiped a bag in three straight games. The second baseman is up to 17 homers, 23 steals, 45 RBI, 56 runs scored and a .211/.273/.376 slash line through 121 contests overall.

  • Gavin Lux SS | TB

Dodgers' Gavin Lux: Resting versus lefty

Lux isn't in the Dodgers' lineup for Tuesday's game versus the Cubs, Kirsten Watson of Spectrum SportsNet LA reports.

The lefty-hitting Lux will grab a seat on the bench Tuesday as southpaw Shota Imanaga toes the slab for Chicago. Enrique Hernandez will fill the void at second base and bat eighth while Lux rests.

  • Brett Wisely 2B | ATL

Giants' Brett Wisely: Absent from lineup Tuesday

Wisely is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Brewers.

Wisely will begin the game on the bench for the second consecutive day. Since the start of September, the second baseman has just one hit and two walks in 14 plate appearances across the five games he has played in. Marco Luciano is starting at second base and batting ninth Tuesday as he sees his playing time expand.

  • Braves' Whit Merrifield: Absence continuing Tuesday

Merrifield (foot) is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Nationals.

It's hardly a surprise that Merrifield is on the bench for a fourth straight game, as he said Saturday after suffering a foot fracture that he's hopeful to return for the three-game series versus the Dodgers that begins Friday. Luke Williams will receive another start at second base Tuesday for Atlanta.

  • Reds' Jonathan India: Returning to action Tuesday

India (elbow) is starting at second base and batting leadoff Tuesday against the Cardinals.

The 27-year-old sat out of Monday's matchup with Atlanta after he exited Sunday's contest due to left elbow discomfort, but his absence will be limited to one game. India is looking to bust out of a mini-slump, as he's gone 0-for-13 with a walk, a hit-by-pitch and five strikeouts in his past four contests.

  • Will Wagner 2B | SD

Blue Jays' Will Wagner: Sitting against left-hander

Wagner is absent from the lineup for Tuesday's game versus the Mets.

It's southpaw David Peterson on the bump for the Mets, so the left-handed hitting Wagner will begin this one on the bench. Davis Schneider will start at second base and bat seventh for Toronto on Tuesday.
