  • Gleyber Torres 2B | DET

Tigers' Gleyber Torres: Reaches four times in win

Torres went 3-for-4 with a walk and a run scored in Sunday's 2-1 win over the Rangers.

As he's done all season, Torres provided a spark from the No. 2 spot in the lineup. It's the second three-hit effort for the infielder over his last five games, and he's gone 8-for-18 overall during the stretch. Torres gets overshadowed a bit by his All-Star teammate Riley Greene, who is among the top 10 in the majors in both home runs and RBI, but the former is having a standout campaign of his own and is a key part of Detroit's offense.

  • Matt McLain SS | CIN

Reds' Matt McLain: Matches career steal mark

McLain went 1-for-3 with a walk, a stolen base and a run scored in Sunday's 3-2 loss to the Mets.

McLain had a hand in both Cincinnati runs. His first-inning single contributed to the the first run, and then he walked and stole a base before scoring a game-tying run in the eighth. The steal was his 14th through 90 games, tying the career-high mark he established as a rookie over 89 games in 2023.

  • Nico Hoerner 2B | CHC

Cubs' Nico Hoerner: Swipes base in loss

Hoerner went 2-for-4 and stole a base in Sunday's 6-1 loss to the Red Sox.

Batting leadoff against tough Boston lefty Garrett Crochet, Hoerner managed to have a decent day even without much support from his teammates. The speedy infielder is now up to 17 stolen bases this year in 20 attempts, and he's swiped a total of 91 bases since the start of the 2023 season. Hoerner isn't much of a power threat, but he continues to hit for a solid average, and his ability to steal a bag is his best fantasy asset.

  • Astros' Brendan Rodgers: Moves to 60-day IL

The Astros transferred Rodgers (nose/concussion/oblique) to the 60-day injured list Sunday, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

The veteran second baseman suffered a nasal fracture and a concussion from a collision Saturday during his rehab assignment with Triple-A Sugar Land, and Houston didn't waste much time before shifting him to the 60-day IL. Rodgers appears to have recovered from the oblique strain that put him on the IL in mid-June, but it's unclear how long the recent injuries will sideline him. He'll be eligible to be reinstated in mid-August.

  • Brice Turang 2B | MIL

Brewers' Brice Turang: Not in Sunday's lineup

Turang is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Dodgers.

Turang started the previous 11 games but will receive Sunday off after batting .190 (8-for-42) with just one extra-base hit during that stretch. Andruw Monasterio will take over at the keystone for the series finale in Los Angeles.

  • Ketel Marte 2B | ARI

Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Activated Sunday, not in lineup

The Diamondbacks reinstated Marte (personal) from the restricted list Sunday, though he's not in the lineup against the Cardinals.

The veteran second baseman has been on the restricted list and away from the team for the past couple days, but he's back for the series finale versus St. Louis. Marte will presumably be available off the bench and should be back in the starting nine Monday against the Astros.

  • Shay Whitcomb SS | HOU

    Astros' Shay Whitcomb: Promoted Sunday

The Astros recalled Whitcomb from Triple-A Sugar Land on Sunday, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

The 26-year-old was demoted July 10 but will rejoin Houston on Sunday with Isaac Paredes (hamstring) hitting the injured list. Whitcomb has gone 1-for-19 in 12 big-league games this season but has been productive at Triple-A with 19 homers, eight steals and a .913 OPS in 287 plate appearances.

  • Ketel Marte 2B | ARI

Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Still out Sunday

Marte (personal) isn't in the starting lineup Sunday against St. Louis.

Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said Saturday that "all indications" were that Marte would be back with the team Sunday, per SI.com, but the star second baseman isn't on the lineup card for a third straight contest coming out of the All-Star break. It's not clear if Marte will be available off the bench, but he'd first need to be removed from the restricted list. Blaze Alexander is picking up another start at the keystone in Marte's stead.

  • Adael Amador SS | COL

Rockies' Adael Amador: Returns to majors

Colorado called up Amador from Triple-A Albuquerque on Sunday, Christian Saez of TheDNVR.com reports.

With Ryan Ritter (finger) landing on the 10-day IL on Sunday, Amador was summoned to provide depth in the infield. The 22-year-old struggled in a big-league stint earlier this season, slashing .146/.240/.225 with one home run, five RBI, one steal and a 24.5 percent strikeout rate over 33 contests. Amador has been swinging a hot bat of late with Albuquerque though, going 13-for-36 (.361 batting average) with eight RBI over his past eight games.

  • Diamondbacks' Blaze Alexander: Scores three times in win

Alexander went 2-for-3 with an RBI and three runs scored in Saturday's 10-1 win over the Cardinals.

Alexander singled and scored in his first two plate appearances and then crossed the plate again after reaching on an error. He's hit safely in four straight contests and has an RBI in three consecutive games. Alexander's started both games following the All-Star break, filling in at second base for Ketel Marte, who was on the restricted list while dealing with a personal issue at home. Marte is expected to return Sunday, which likely means Alexander will get bumped to the bench.
