Rays infielder Evan Longoria belted his 20th home run Wednesday against the Yankees.

Longoria struck in the ninth inning. With the bases empty, Longoria belted an 89 mph cutter out to left for the solo shot. He finished 1 for 4, with two runs scored and one RBI. 

Indians rookie shortstop Jose Ramirez has flourished in the second spot in the lineup since taking over the starting job upon the trade that sent Asdrubal Cabrera to Washington.

Ramirez, whose production might be keeping premier prospect Francisco Lindor at Triple-A for now, is 35 for 123 since returning to the team in late July for a .282 mark. He has scored 14 runs during that time.

Rays third baseman Evan Longoria went deep Wednesday against the Blue Jays.

Longoria didn't strike until the eighth inning. With a man on, Longoria belted a two-run shot on a 95 mph fastball. He also singled earlier in the game. Longoria finished 2 for 4, with one run scored and three RBI. 

The Orioles transferred third baseman Manny Machado to the 60-disabled list Tuesday in order to clear a spot on the 40-man roster.

Machado was already ruled out for the season following knee surgery, so this doesn't change anything. He is set to be ready in time for next season's spring training. 

Athletics third baseman Josh Donaldson had gone more than two weeks since his last home run before going deep in a 4-3 loss to the Angels Friday.

Donaldson tied the game with his sixth inning solo home run, a shot that eventually sent the game into extras. He went 2 for 3 overall in the game, while added a pair of walks in the loss.  

Donaldson has found his swing again in the month of August, though he has just three home runs in 85 games. He is still hitting .294/.419/.482 with 12 RBI and nine runs scored in the month.

Rays third baseman Evan Longoria was back at third base for the second game in a row Thursday against the Orioles, and he showed the forearm soreness from earlier in the week was behind him as he went deep in a 5-4 loss.

Longoria went 1 for 3 in the game while driving in to runs, one with his fourth-inning solo home run and then another with a sacrifice fly in the fifth. He now has 17 home runs and 76 RBI in 134 games, while hitting .255/.325/.399 in 521 at-bats. 

Twins third baseman Trevor Plouffe has embarked on a late-August hot streak that has vaulted his slugging percentage back over .400.

Plouffe is 28 for 89 this month with three home runs, 20 RBI and 14 runs scored. His current 11-for-28 run has improved his stat line on the season to .251/.317/.417 with 10 home runs and a career-high 65 RBI.

Orioles infielder Manny Machado had successful knee surgery Wednesday, according to the Baltimore Sun.

Machado's timetable remains the same following the surgery. The club expects Machado to be ready by spring training. Machado missed time early in the season while recovering from surgery on his other knee. He hit .278/.324/.431 over 327 at-bats.

Rays third baseman Evan Longoria has been playing through a sore right forearm for the last week, how told The Tampa Tribune.

Longoria is in the lineup Tuesday against the Orioles, but is serving as the designated hitter for the second straight game. He did not he expects to be back at third base for Wednesday's game. 

Orioles third baseman Manny Machado is not planning on rehabbing with the team post-surgery, Comcast SportsNet Baltimore reports.

Machado will undergo surgery on his right knee Wednesday, then he'll report to the team's spring training complex in Sarasota after three weeks to continue rehab his instead. He is planning on being with the team in October for the playoffs and wants to have a "normal" spring training, according to the report.
