Orioles third baseman Manny Machado was forced out of Monday's game against the Yankees with an apparent right knee injury.

Machado slipped and his knee buckled as he attempted to come out of the batter's box. He was unable to place any pressure on his leg and helped off the field by teammates and trainers. The 22-year-old had surgery on left knee in October. This injury was to the right knee. The extent of the injury is unknown at this point.

Machado finished 1 for 2 with a double and a run scored before leaving the game. He is hitting .278 with 12 homers and 32 RBI in 327 at-bats.

Twins third baseman Trevor Plouffe has returned to the lineup Monday after missing the Sunday game with a foot ailment.

Plouffe comes back in a 4-for-19 mini-slump that followed a short hot streak. He owns a .249/.322/.405 stat line on the season.

The X-rays on Twins third baseman Trevor Plouffe's injured left foot came back negative, according to MLB.com. He is being considered day to day.

Twins third baseman Trevor Plouffe (foot) and outfielder Oswaldo Arcia (back) were held out of the starting lineup Sunday at Oakland due to injuries. Plouffe, who fouled a ball off his foot Saturday night, will get X-rays as a precaution.

Indians rookie shortstop Jose Ramirez not only slammed his first career home run Saturday, but it was a game-winner in Yankee Stadium.

Ramirez blasted off to right for a two-run job in the second inning. He added two singles to push his average up to .205.

Machado smashed a three-run homer in the second inning to launch a rout of St. Louis. It was his fifth tater in the last month. He added a single for his third multi-hit game in August.

Twins third baseman Trevor Plouffe registered four hits in his team's 8-6 victory over the White Sox in Chicago on Saturday.

Plouffe doubled in a run in the opening frame, doubled in one more in the third and singled in the eighth and ninth innings, respectively. He finished 4 for 5 with a run scored and two RBI. He owns a .248/.315/.406 slash line with seven homers and 47 RBI in 355 at-bats.

Rays third baseman Evan Longoria is dealing with a sore knee after colliding with an umpire Friday, and is getting a chance to rest it Saturday.

Longoria told the Tampa Bay Tribune Saturday he is serving as the designated hitter for Saturday's game, though this was also a schedule day out of the field for him. He is not expected to miss any time as a result of the injury.

Machado drove in his first run of the game on a double in the second inning. He delivered his walkoff blast as the leadoff batter in the 12th. Machado has hit .268/.314/.430 with 11 home runs and 27 RBI in 272 at-bats.

The Blue Jays have acquired infielder Danny Valencia from the Royals for minor-leaguers Erik Kratz and Liam Hendriks on Monday, the Royals announced. Valencia appeared in just 36 games for Kansas City and owned a .282/.328/.382 slash line with two homers and 11 RBI in 110 at-bats this season.
