Twins' Brooks Lee: Gets cortisone shot

An MRI on Lee's sore shoulder showed no structural damage, but he received a cortisone shot for his right biceps tendinitis, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.

Lee will wait for the cortisone shot to take effect before resuming throwing. It sounds like Lee, who was placed on the injured list Aug. 9, could miss several weeks.

  • Ramon Urias 2B | HOU

Orioles' Ramon Urias: Swats go-ahead homer

Urias went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run in Saturday's 7-5 win over the Rays.

Urias has started four of the last five games at third base, as the Orioles appear to prefer the veteran to Coby Mayo, who has struggled in his first stint in the majors. In fairness, Urias hasn't done much lately either -- he's 12-for-47 (.255) with two homers and eight RBI over 19 contests since the All-Star break, but Mayo is 0-for-13 over his first five career games. Urias is up to a .238/.310/.378 slash line with six homers, 20 RBI, 23 runs scored, no stolen bases and seven doubles across 74 games.

  • Yoan Moncada 3B | LAA

White Sox's Yoan Moncada: Running, not feeling 100 percent

Moncada (adductor) has been running since being pulled off his minor-league rehab assignment but is still "feeling something there" during his recovery process, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.

Moncada was returned from his rehab assignment July 22 due to "anticipated soreness" and it wasn't viewed as a setback in his recovery from a left adductor strain. However, the third baseman hasn't shown any significant signs of improvement and is still dealing with lingering soreness. The White Sox have already indicated they don't intend to rush Moncada back, and a timeline for return has yet to be established for the 29-year-old.

  • Josh Rojas 3B | CHW

Mariners' Josh Rojas: On bench Saturday

Rojas is absent from the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Mets.

With southpaw Sean Manaea on the mound for New York, the lefty-hitting Rojas will take a seat. In his place, Dylan Moore will bat seventh and play third base.

  • Royce Lewis 3B | MIN

    Twins' Royce Lewis: Resting Saturday

Lewis isn't in the Twins' lineup for Saturday's game against the Guardians.

The Twins will give Lewis a day off Saturday after he played both games of Friday's doubleheader, going 1-for-6 with an RBI and two walks. Jose Miranda will draw the start at third base Saturday and will bat seventh.

  • Anthony Rendon 3B | LAA

Angels' Anthony Rendon: Collects three hits vs. former club

Rendon went 3-for-5 with a stolen base in a loss to the Nationals on Friday.

None of Rendon's three singles led to any runs for the Angels, but the performance was still a positive one for the third baseman, who was playing at Nationals Park for the first time since winning the World Series with Washington in 2019. Rendon has dealt with a bevy of injuries since joining the Angels in 2020, and he's played in only 36 contests so far this year. The 34-year-old has gone 5-for-11 with two walks over three contests since returning from his most recent stint on the injured list Aug. 7.

  • Abraham Toro 1B | BOS

Athletics' Abraham Toro: Not in Saturday's lineup

Toro isn't in the Athletics' lineup for Saturday's game versus Toronto.

Toro will get a breather Saturday after going 0-for-4 during a loss in Friday's series opener. Darell Hernaiz will step in as Oakland's third baseman and bat seventh.

  • Athletics' Armando Alvarez: Headed back to Vegas

The Athletics optioned Alvarez to Triple-A Las Vegas on Saturday.

Alvarez went 1-for-3 with an RBI and scored a run while filling in for Seth Brown, who returned from paternity leave Saturday. The 30-year-old Alvarez boasts a 1.003 OPS through 251 plate appearances in Triple-A, making him a candidate to return to Oakland before the end of the season.

  • Josh Rojas 3B | CHW

Mariners' Josh Rojas: Out of lineup vs. southpaw

Rojas is absent from the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Mets.

Rojas will sit for the second time in three games as left-hander Jose Quintana takes the mound for the Mets on Friday. Dylan Moore will shift to third base while Leo Rivas starts at shortstop.

  • Jean Segura 3B | CLE

Orioles' Jean Segura: Inks minors deal with O's

Segura signed a minor-league contract with the Orioles on Friday, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Segura hasn't played since he was cut by the Guardians last August, but he'll now get a chance with the Orioles as organizational depth at Triple-A Norfolk. The 34-year-old infielder slashed just .219/.277/.279 across 326 plate appearances last season, and at this stage of his career he's unlikely to make an impact if he gets brought up to the majors.
