  • Yoan Moncada 3B | CHW

White Sox's Yoan Moncada: Needs more time on rehab assignment

Moncada (adductor) is expected to play in at least five more rehab games for Triple-A Charlotte before being activated from the 60-day injured list, Francys Romero of BeisbolFR.com reports.

Moncada has been on the injured list since April while recovering from an adductor strain and a related setback that caused him to be pulled off a rehab assignment shortly after the All-Star break. Though he's reported no setbacks since kicking off a second rehab assignment this past Tuesday, Moncada has looked rusty in his first game action in a month and a half, going 2-for-10 with a double and two strikeouts. Based on Romero's report, the White Sox are leaning toward keeping Moncada at Charlotte throughout the week, so he shouldn't be expected to return from the 60-day injured list until the second week of September. Miguel Vargas and Lenyn Sosa will likely continue to share reps at third base until Moncada is back with the big club.

  • Rangers' Jonathan Ornelas: Gets September call-up

The Rangers recalled Ornelas from Triple-A Round Rock ahead of Sunday's 6-4 extra-inning win over the Athletics.

Ornelas' addition strengthens Texas' depth in the infield, but he's unlikely to be in store for regular at-bats so long as Corey Seager, Josh Jung, Marcus Semien and Josh Smith are able to maintain health down the stretch. Prior to his promotion, Ornelas had hit .252 with three home runs and nine stolen bases over 366 plate appearances with Round Rock this season.

  • Angels' Charles Leblanc: Summoned from Triple-A

The Angels recalled Leblanc from Triple-A Salt Lake prior to Sunday's 3-2 win over the Mariners.

He will join Jack Lopez and Michael Stefanic as utility options in the Angels infield, but it may take an injury or two for Leblanc to see steady playing time. Aside from a brief stint with the Halos in August, Leblanc had spent the entire season at Salt Lake, producing an .816 OPS over 414 plate appearances.

  • Coby Mayo 3B | BAL

Orioles' Coby Mayo: Promoted, starting at third base

The Orioles recalled Mayo from Triple-A Norfolk, and he will start at third base and bat sixth Sunday against the Rockies.

The 22-year-old has joined the Orioles with MLB active rosters expanding to 28 players Sunday, and placement of Ramon Urias (ankle) on the injured list could open up everyday playing time for Mayo at third base. Mayo struggled in his first taste of the majors, going 1-for-17 with 10 strikeouts over his first seven games, but he appears poised to get plenty of chances in September while Urias is sidelined.

  • Ramon Urias 3B | BAL

Orioles' Ramon Urias: Lands on injured list

The Orioles placed Urias on the 10-day injured list Sunday due to a right ankle sprain.

The 30-year-old suffered the injury during Saturday's contest in Colorado and will be sidelined for at least the next week and a half. Coby Mayo, who is one of Baltimore's top prospects, was recalled from Triple-A Norfolk in a corresponding move Sunday and should see some run at third base while Urias is sidelined.

  • Blue Jays' Luis De Los Santos: Promoted, starting Sunday

The Blue Jays recalled De Los Santos from Triple-A Buffalo. He will start at third base and bat eighth Sunday against the Twins.

The 26-year-old received his first taste of the big leagues in late July and early August, though he was sent back to Triple-A after appearing in just three games. De Los Santos has been productive at Triple-A this season with six home runs and a .260/.375/.441 slash line in 43 games.

  • Paul DeJong SS | KC

Royals' Paul DeJong: Not in Sunday's lineup

DeJong is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Astros.

DeJong started the past six games and will receive a breather after going 5-for-21 with three homers and 12 strikeouts during that span. Maikel Garcia will step in at the hot corner in the series finale at Houston.

  • Alex Bregman 3B | HOU

Astros' Alex Bregman: Absence continuing Sunday

Bregman (elbow) is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Royals, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

Bregman will stay on the bench for a third straight game as he continues to nurse a sore elbow. The 30-year-old missed a handful of games in mid-August due to the elbow issue, and he'll likely need to contend with the injury for the rest of the season. Shay Whitcomb is starting at third base Sunday, but Bregman should be back in action before long. In fact, manager Joe Espada told Brian McTaggart of MLB.com that the swelling in Bregman's elbow has almost dissipated, and the 30-year-old might be available off the bench Sunday.

  • Brooks Lee SS | MIN

Twins' Brooks Lee: Reinstated, in lineup Sunday

Lee (bicep) was activated from the 10-day injured list and will start at shortstop while batting eighth Sunday against the Blue Jays, LaVelle E. Neal III of The Minnesota Star Tribune reports.

The 23-year-old landed on the injured list Aug. 9 due to bicep tendinitis and is ready to rejoin the Twins after a five-game rehab assignment with Triple-A St. Paul. Lee has a .253/.309/.333 slash line with two homers and three steals in his first 26 big-league games, and he should see plenty of run at shortstop until Carlos Correa recovers from his heel injury.

  • Jazz Chisholm CF | NYY

Yankees' Jazz Chisholm: Collects three hits Saturday

Chisholm went 3-for-4 with a run in a loss to St. Louis on Saturday.

Chisholm had one of three multi-hit performances for New York in a losing effort. Since returning from the injured list Aug. 23, Chisholm is batting .310 and has three multi-hit efforts over eight games. Of his nine knocks during that span, four (two doubles and two homers) have gone for extra bases.
