  • Royals' Maikel Garcia: Drives in four

Garcia went 2-for-4 with one double and four RBI in Tuesday's 11-10 victory over Detroit.

Garcia broke out of a small slump Tuesday, tallying a pair of hits after entering the contest 3-for-26 (.115) in his last seven outings. Among the pair of hits was a two-RBI double off Beau Brieske in the sixth. With four RBI on the day, Garcia set a single-game career high in that category.

  • Red Sox's Rafael Devers: Out again with tight calf

Devers (calf) remains out of the lineup Tuesday at Oakland.

Devers is still considered day-to-day after experiencing tightness in his right calf during Sunday's series finale against the Cubs. Justin Turner will play third base and bat third Tuesday versus the Athletics and right-hander Luis Medina. Masataka Yoshida is serving as Boston's designated hitter and cleanup man.

  • Angels' Eduardo Escobar: Sitting Tuesday

Escobar is not in the starting lineup Tuesday against the Yankees, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

Escobar will take a seat after he went 0-for-3 with a walk, a run scored and two strikeouts in Monday's series opener. Michael Stefanic will draw the start at second base and bat ninth versus New York.

  • Jace Peterson SS | ARI

Athletics' Jace Peterson: On bench versus southpaw

Peterson is not in the starting lineup Tuesday versus the Red Sox.

Peterson will sit for a third straight game Tuesday as the A's face off with southpaw Joe Jacques. Aledmys Diaz will draw the start at third base and bat sixth against Boston.

  • Oswald Peraza 3B | LAA

Yankees' Oswald Peraza: On base five times in loss

Peraza went 1-for-1 with four walks, a stolen base and one run scored in Monday's 4-3 extra-inning loss to the Angels.

Peraza has just a 9.6 percent walk rate at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre this year, and he'd drawn just three free passes over 39 plate appearances in the majors. He's got a solid batting eye, but Monday's effort was an impressive one for the infielder, who hit leadoff and started at third base. With Josh Donaldson (calf) potentially facing a season-ending injury, Peraza could have a chance to carve out a regular role before the trade deadline. He has a .235/.409/.265 slash line with four RBI, five runs scored and four stolen bases through 14 contests in the majors this year.

  • Eugenio Suarez 3B | CIN

Mariners' Eugenio Suarez: Provides valuable insurance

Suarez went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in Monday's 7-6 win over the Twins.

Suarez's seventh-inning blast put the Mariners up 7-3, and they'd need all of the extra cushion to maintain the lead. The third baseman slumped around the All-Star break, going 0-for-12 with seven walks and eight strikeouts over his previous five games. He's up to 12 homers, 54 RBI, 38 runs scored, a stolen base and a .225/.323/.378 slash line through 93 contests.

  • Red Sox's Rafael Devers: Out with calf tightness

Devers is out of the starting lineup Monday against Oakland due to right calf tightness and is being considered day-to-day, Julian McWilliams of The Boston Globe reports.

Devers felt some tightness in his calf during Sunday's game and mentioned the issue to skipper Alex Cora after the game, per Mike Monaco of ESPN. The team is hopeful it'll be a one-day absence for Devers, who will likely be re-evaluated Tuesday morning to determine his availability for the second game of the series.

  • Josh Donaldson 3B | MIL

Yankees' Josh Donaldson: Could be done for season

Donaldson has been diagnosed with a high-grade strain/small tear in his right calf and is without a timetable for a return, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.

Donaldson was placed on the 10-day injured list Sunday with a calf injury, and it's possible his season could be over after he received his MRI results. The team likely won't disclose a firm timetable for a return until later on in the recovery process, but this isn't the news the Yankees were hoping for after Donaldson exited Saturday's matchup in discomfort. Oswald Peraza, who led off Monday, should see an uptick in playing time over the rest of the season.

  • Oswald Peraza 3B | LAA

Yankees' Oswald Peraza: Leading off Monday

Peraza is starting at third base and batting leadoff Monday against the Angels, Pete Caldera of The Bergen Record reports.

Peraza didn't start his first game back in the majors Sunday, but he did deliver an RBI single and a stolen base off the bench. His reward is a spot atop the Yankees' lineup Monday.

  • DJ LeMahieu 2B | NYY

Yankees' DJ LeMahieu: Receives breather Monday

LeMahieu is not in the starting lineup Monday versus the Angels.

LeMahieu will get a breather after he went 6-for-13 with two doubles and two runs scored in the Yankees' series in Colorado. Oswald Peraza will take over at the hot corner and bat leadoff in the series opener in Los Angeles.
