The Twins are expected to option Miranda to Triple-A St. Paul prior to Wednesday's game against the Padres, LaVelle E. Neal III of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.

Minnesota has yet to confirm the transaction, but Miranda is expected to cede his spot on the 26-man active roster to infielder Kyle Farmer (mouth), who is due to return from the 10-day injured list. While Miranda's impending demotion is shocking on the surface following his impressive rookie campaign in 2022, the 24-year-old is in the midst of a prolonged funk at the plate. He's gone just 6-for-36 over his last 10 games and is slashing .220/.275/.318 on the season, with his .593 OPS representing a 158-point drop from 2022. Ideally, Miranda will be in store for a brief stint in the minors to regain confidence and get his timing back at the plate before he steps back into an everyday role with the Twins at third base. In the meantime, the Twins are likely to turn to a combination of Farmer and Willi Castro to handle the hot corner.

Walls went 1-for-3 with a walk and a solo home run Tuesday against the Orioles.

Walls took Grayson Rodriguez yard in the fifth inning to record his sixth home run of the season. He now has three long balls across his last seven starts, though he has only seven total hits in that span. Walls has enjoyed a regular role while appearing primarily at second and third base, and he's maintained a .265/.365/.542 line across 96 plate appearances for the season.

White Sox manager Pedro Grifol told reporters before Tuesday's game against the Royals that there's a good chance Moncada (back) returns over the weekend series against the Astros, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.

Grifol seemed to rule out Moncada returning for the series against the Royals, but it seems likely the infielder will be back in the lineup by the end of the weekend. Moncada has been out since the middle of April with his back injury, and he should resume everyday duties once healthy.

Farmer (mouth) will go through pregame workouts with the Twins on Tuesday but will not be activated prior to their game against the Padres, Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic reports.

His activation is imminent, however, with manager Rocco Baldelli saying it "could be tomorrow, could be the next day, could be the day after that." Farmer had another scheduled dental procedure Monday as he continues to work his way back from being hit in the face with a pitch last month.

Peraza (ankle) could begin a rehab assignment within the next few days, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.

Peraza was finally placed on the injured list Tuesday with a right ankle sprain that's been bothering him for about a week, but it would appear he's nearly game-ready. If he's able to progress without setbacks, a return when first eligible (May 16) seems possible.

Donaldson (hamstring) will go through another week of "intense baseball activities" before starting a rehab assignment, Yankees manager Aaron Boone told Max Goodman of The Newark Star-Ledger.

It had seemed like a rehab assignment for Donaldson was imminent, but he'll need to get through a few more days of workouts first. That would seem to put him on a timetable to return toward the end of the month, if all goes well. Donaldson has been out since early April with a right hamstring strain.

Orioles general manager Mike Elias said that Urias (hamstring) will "miss a good bit of time" after being placed on the 10-day injured list Tuesday, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Elias didn't go into detail about how long Urias might be sidelined, but the utility infielder seems likely to miss beyond the minimum 10 days. Urias suffered a left hamstring strain during Monday's game versus the Rays.

LeMahieu is absent from the Yankees' lineup for Tuesday's game versus the Athletics, Erik Boland of Newsday reports.

It looks to be a simple day of rest for LeMahieu. Oswaldo Cabrera will handle third base for the Yankees.

Prieto has a .364/.411/.485 slash line with two home runs, three steals and more walks (seven) than strikeouts (five) through 107 plate appearances with Double-A Bowie.

The lefty-hitting Cuban infielder got $650,000 in January of 2022 due to the strength of his hit tool, and thus far he has shown major improvements in a repeat of Double-A, where he was below league average (77 wRC+) in 90 games last year. Prieto's 4.7 percent strikeout rate is by far the best mark in all of Double-A -- next best is Domingo Leyba's 10.1 percent strikeout rate. Prieto, who turns 24 this week, has seen time at second base (11 starts), shortstop (six starts) and third base (five starts).

Urias was placed on the 10-day injured list by the Orioles on Tuesday with a strained left hamstring.

Urias suffered the injury during Monday's loss to the Rays. The severity of the strain is unclear at the moment, and therefore, so is Urias' timetable. Urias is sporting a .756 OPS with one home run and two stolen bases in 30 games this season.
