  • Yoan Moncada 3B | LAA

White Sox's Yoan Moncada: Plates two runs Saturday

Moncada went 1-for-4 with a double and two RBI in Saturday's win over the Cubs.

Moncada has recorded hits in the first two games of the series against the Cubs, but the infielder continues to be mired on a slump that has seen him go just 5-for-42 (.119) with 16 strikeouts over his last 11 contests. Moncada is hitting .256 with a .763 OPS on the season.

  • Gio Urshela 3B | MIN

Yankees' Gio Urshela: Should return Wednesday

Manager Aaron Boone said he expects Urshela (hamstring) to be activated from the 10-day injured list when eligible Wednesday, Max Goodman of SI.com reports.

Urshela landed on the shelf at the start of August with the hamstring issue, but he's poised to rejoin the Yankees after missing the 10-day minimum. Rougned Odor should continue seeing time at the hot corner until Urshela is activated.

  • Ramon Urias 3B | STL

Orioles' Ramon Urias: Battling leg soreness

Urias is out of the lineup Sunday against the Rays due to upper leg soreness, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Urias was unavailable for Saturday's contest due to the injury, though he's available off the bench Sunday. Richie Martin will make his second straight start at shortstop for the Orioles.

  • Josh Donaldson 3B | MIL

Twins' Josh Donaldson: Remains on bench Sunday

Donaldson (hamstring) is not in the lineup Sunday against the Astros.

The veteran third baseman missed five games with a hamstring injury last week before returning to the lineup Thursday and Friday, but he's now sitting out for the second straight contest. There's been no announcement of a setback, but it's clear he's still nursing the injury given the consecutive absences. Luis Arraez will shift to third base Sunday while Trevor Larnach starts in left field.

  • Alex Bregman 3B | CHC

Astros' Alex Bregman: Return from IL looming

Bregman (quadriceps) started at third base and went 1-for-5 with a double and a walk for Triple-A Sugar Land on Saturday.

For the second day in a row, Bregman played in the field for nine innings, which is an indication he's nearing a return to Houston. The latest plan revealed by the team was that Bregman would remain with the Skeeters through the weekend before a decision is made about his next step. The Astros are off Monday, so Bregman could conceivably return Tuesday at home against Colorado.

  • Ramon Urias 3B | STL

Orioles' Ramon Urias: Heads to bench

Urias will sit Saturday against the Rays.

Urias sits for just the third time since he was called up back in late June. He owns a .300/.364/.427 slash line in 30 games over that stretch. Jorge Mateo and Richie Martin will be the middle infielders in his absence.

  • Tyler Freeman 3B | COL

Indians' Tyler Freeman: Done for season

Freeman is done for the season due to "labrum concerns," Emily Waldon of The Athletic reports.

He was out from June 24 through July 17 with a shoulder injury, then returned for a week and was placed back on the injured list with Double-A Akron. This report doesn't make it seem like the Arizona Fall League will be an option for Freeman, so the hope is that he can get healthy in time for spring training. Freeman, 22, has one of the best hit tools in the minors, slashing .323/.372/.470 with an 11.7 percent strikeout rate in 41 games during his first exposure to Double-A pitching.

  • Josh Donaldson 3B | MIL

    Twins' Josh Donaldson: Sitting Saturday

Donaldson will be on the bench Saturday against the Astros.

Donaldson was on the bench for six straight games while dealing with a hamstring injury before returning to the lineup for the last two. There haven't been reports of a setback, so it's likely he's simply receiving a routine day off as the Twins look to avoid overworking him. With Minnesota firmly out of the playoff picture and Donaldson under team control though 2024, it would hardly be a surprise to see the veteran third baseman receive regular maintenance days down the stretch.

  • Alex Bregman 3B | CHC

Astros' Alex Bregman: Plays nine innings Friday

Bregman (quadriceps) went 1-for-3 with two walks for Triple-A Sugar Land on Friday.

Bregman resumed play for the Skeeters on Friday and played all nine innings at third base. He last played in a game Tuesday, going 1-for-2 in a rain-shortened game. Bregman did not play when the suspended game resumed Wednesday, nor did he appear Thursday after a day of travel.

  • Blue Jays' Jordan Groshans: No homers since late June

Groshans hasn't hit a home run for Double-A New Hampshire since a two-homer effort back on June 25, though he's still managed to hit .294/.374/.412 with 10 doubles and an 11:18 BB:K in the 25 ensuing games.

His lack of home-run power is certainly concerning, but Groshans has kept hitting nonetheless, and he's cut down his strikeout rate to a noteworthy degree in the process. The Fisher Cats also play in a park that typically favors pitchers. Of course, as a guy who has minimal speed and is expected to land at third base in the majors, he's going to have to hit the ball out of the yard way more often. Groshans has only five homers on the season, and if he doesn't ultimately find a way to tap into his raw power, he'll run the risk of falling into more of a utility-type profile.
