Yankees' DJ LeMahieu: Expected back Monday

LeMahieu (triceps) remains out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Marlins, but manager Aaron Boone said he expects the 33-year-old to rejoin the starting nine Monday versus Baltimore, Lindsey Adler of The Athletic reports.

A triceps strain will relegate LeMahieu to the bench for the third consecutive game, but the Yankees are viewing the injury as a day-to-day concern and don't believe he'll require a trip to the injured list. The club's stance could change if LeMahieu isn't feeling quite right when he's re-evaluated Monday, but at this point, all indications are that he's progressing well in his recovery. Anthony Rizzo will spell LeMahieu as the Yankees' leadoff man Sunday, while Rougned Odor fills in for LeMahieu at second base.

  • Jose Ramirez 3B | CLE

Indians' Jose Ramirez: Provides pair of hits, stolen base

Ramirez went 2-for-5 with a stolen base and an RBI in Saturday's win over the White Sox.

Ramirez drove in what proved to be the decisive run, scoring new teammate Myles Straw with a ground-rule double in the eighth inning that gave Cleveland a 12-8 lead. Ramirez also singled and stole second in the seventh, his 11th swipe in 14 attempts this season. The 28-year-old boasts an .867 OPS with 22 homers and 62 RBI in 383 plate appearances this season.

Yankees' DJ LeMahieu: Dealing with triceps strain

Manager Aaron Boone said LeMahieu has a strained triceps, though the infielder isn't expected to require a trip to the injured list, Max Goodman of SI.com reports.

The skipper called the news "encouraging," as LeMahieu may remain out of the lineup Sunday for the third straight contest, but he's expected to be available off the bench. The 33-year-old didn't appear as a reserve Saturday, though he hit a single as a pinch hitter Friday.

  • Isaac Paredes 3B | HOU

Tigers' Isaac Paredes: Initiates rehab assignment

Paredes (hip) began a rehab assignment at Triple-A Toledo on Friday, going 1-for-3 with a double, two RBI and a run in the affiliate's 11-1 win over Omaha.

Paredes was up with the big club for less than a week before he suffered a right hip strain that resulted in him being placed on the injured list July 22. Before being placed on the shelf, Paredes had been serving as the Tigers' primary second baseman, but those duties have since fallen to Willi Castro.

  • Josh Donaldson 3B | MIL

Twins' Josh Donaldson: Remains out of lineup

Donaldson (hamstring) isn't starting Saturday against the Cardinals.

Donaldson was scratched from Friday's lineup due to minor right hamstring tightness, and he'll be unable to return after he was re-evaluated Saturday. He should still be considered day-to-day, while Luis Arraez (knee) will return to the lineup at the hot corner and bat fourth.

  • Gio Urshela 3B | MIN

Yankees' Gio Urshela: On bench Saturday

Urshela (hamstring) is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Marlins.

It's Urshela's second straight day on the bench as he deals with a hamstring injury, but his appearance as a pinch hitter Friday suggests he's close returning to the lineup. Tyler Wade is playing third base and batting eighth Saturday.

  • DJ LeMahieu 2B | NYY

Yankees' DJ LeMahieu: Not starting Saturday

LeMahieu (triceps) is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Marlins.

The infielder is omitted from the lineup for a second straight day as he deals with a minor triceps issue, although he did enter Friday's contest as a pinch hitter. LeMahieu figures to be available off the bench Saturday as well, but it's unclear when he'll be back in the lineup. Rougned Odor is starting at second base and batting sixth.

  • DJ LeMahieu 2B | NYY

Yankees' DJ LeMahieu: Raps single as pinch hitter

LeMahieu (triceps) singled in his only at-bat during Friday's 3-1 win over Miami.

The infielder was kept out of the starting nine due to the triceps issue, but manager Aaron Boone called on him to enter the game defensively after Gleyber Torres was ejected in the seventh inning. LeMahieu played the remainder of the contest and contributed an infield single in the ninth inning. Given his ability to finish off the game, it's unlikely that LeMahieu will miss much more time.

  • Gio Urshela 3B | MIN

Yankees' Gio Urshela: Singles as pinch hitter

Urshela (hamstring) singled in his only at-bat during Friday's 3-1 win over the Marlins.

The hamstring issue kept Urshela out of the starting lineup, but it is certainly a positive that he was healthy enough to enter the game as a pinch hitter. Urshela singled to right in the eighth inning and was immediately replaced on the basepaths by Nestor Cortes. It's unclear how long the Yankees plan to hold him from the starting nine, but it appears that Urshela will be available to hit off the bench in the meantime.

  • Red Sox's Rafael Devers: In lineup Saturday

Devers (quadriceps) is batting second and playing third base Saturday against the Rays, Bill Koch of The Providence Journal reports.

As expected, the star third baseman returns to action after missing a couple games with left quadriceps soreness. The injury is still worth monitoring, though, as such issues can linger and affect one's performance if not fully healed. In 12 games since the All-Star break, Devers has hit .325 with five home runs and 10 RBI.
