    White Sox's Nick Madrigal: Moves to leadoff

    Madrigal went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored in Friday's 7-1 loss to the Reds.

    With Tim Anderson getting a breather, Madrigal moved from ninth in the order to leadoff. It was the eighth multi-hit effort in 21 games for the rookie, whose contact skills have been evident during his introduction to MLB. He struck out once Friday, the first whiff in seven contests and just his sixth in 78 plate appearances.

  • Twins' Willians Astudillo: Sent to alternate site

    Astudillo was optioned to the alternate training site, Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic reports.

    The 29-year-old joined the big-league club Sept. 4 but appeared in only three games during his time with the team. Astudillo has only 16 plate appearances on the season. Mitch Garver (back) was activated off the injured list in a corresponding move.

    Yankees' DJ LeMahieu: Slugs 10th homer

    LeMahieu went 1-for-3 with two walks, a solo home run and a second run scored in Thursday's 10-7 win over the Blue Jays.

    He continues to wear out Toronto pitching, and LeMahieu finished the three-game series against the Jays having gone 8-for-13 with three doubles, four homers, eight runs and nine RBI while extending his hitting streak to 10 games. On the year, the veteran infielder is slashing .373/.426/.641 with 10 homers and 23 RBI.

    Indians' Jose Ramirez: Slugs two homers

    Ramirez went 4-for-5 with a double, two home runs, four RBI and three runs scored Thursday against the Tigers.

    Ramirez terrorized Casey Mize, taking him deep in each of his first two at-bats. He now has 13 long balls on the season, four of which have come in his last six games. Ramirez has also hit well overall in that span, logging multi-hit efforts in five of those contests. Overall, he has a very strong .276/.366/.546 line with 37 runs scored, 32 RBI and 10 stolen bases across 213 plate appearances.

  • Red Sox's Rafael Devers: Delivers three-run homer

    Devers went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run and two runs scored in Thursday's 5-3 victory over the Marlins.

    Devers handed his team three insurance runs in the seventh inning, leaving the yard for the 11th time this season. The 23-year-old is enjoying a 10-game hitting streak, cracking five homers and driving in 14 over that stretch.

    Angels' Anthony Rendon: Homers in win

    Rendon 2-for-4 with a two-run home run during Thursday's 7-3 victory over the Diamondbacks.

    Rendon smacked his ninth home run of the season in the first inning and the Angels never looked back. Rendon has seen his slugging percentage drop by over 80 points from 2019, but he is carrying a career-high 16.8 percent walk rate to compensate. His season average sits at .282 as the Angels welcome the Rangers starting Friday.

    Twins' Josh Donaldson: Ejected after home run

    Donaldson was ejected during the sixth inning of Thursday's game against the White Sox.

    The 34-year-old gave the Twins a 3-2 lead after hitting a solo homer to start the sixth inning, but he was ejected when he kicked dirt on home plate. Donaldson was unhappy about a strike call earlier in the at-bat, and he returned for some additional dirt kicking to express his displeasure before leaving the field.

    Astros' Alex Bregman: Makes fifth straight start

    Bregman went 1-for-3 with a double and a walk in Wednesday's 1-0 loss to the Rangers.

    Bregman has hit safely in four straight contests, going 5-for-14 with two runs, two doubles and three RBI. He appears to be back to normal after a hamstring injury wiped out nearly three weeks. Bregman was initially brought along slowly when activated from the injured list last week, but Wednesday's start was his fifth straight.

    Yankees' DJ LeMahieu: Another big performance

    LeMahieu went 3-for-4 with two home runs, a walk, a double, three RBI and three runs scored Wednesday against Toronto.

    LeMahieu torched the Blue Jays again, this time taking Tanner Roark deep in the first and fourth innings. He now has nine homers on the season, three of which have come in the first two games of the Yankees' series against Toronto. The performance also extended LeMahieu's hitting streak to nine games, during which he's put together three multi-hit efforts. Overall, he has a strong .373/.421/.627 line with 35 runs scored and 22 RBI in 164 plate appearances.
