Matt Chapman 3B | SF
Athletics' Matt Chapman: Likely out until Wednesday
Athletics manager Bob Melvin said in an interview with MLB Network Radio on SiriusXM that he doesn't expect Chapman (hip) to play Monday or in Oakland's doubleheader Tuesday with the Astros.
Oakland hasn't disclosed the results of the MRI that Chapman underwent on the strained right hip he sustained in Sunday's series finale with the Padres, but the injury is apparently considered serious enough to sideline him for the next two days. For now, the Athletics are hopeful a couple days of rest will be enough for Chapman to move past the hip issue, but a stint on the injured list isn't being ruled out for the slick-fielding third baseman. Chad Pinder or Tommy La Stella should serve as the primary replacements at the hot corner until Chapman is deemed ready to go.

Anthony Rendon 3B | LAA
Angels' Anthony Rendon: Knocks two-run shot
Rendon went 2-for-5 with a two-run homer in Sunday's 9-5 win over the Astros.
Rendon's eighth home run of the season was a two-run shot in the third inning Sunday, tying the contest up at 3-3. The 30-year-old slugger is enjoying a solid first season with the Angels, slashing .292/.425/.538 with 24 RBI and 15 extra-base hits in 160 plate appearances.

Athletics' Matt Chapman: Undergoing MRI
Chapman was diagnosed with a right hip strain and will undergo an MRI, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Chapman was forced out of Sunday's contest prior to the fifth inning due to his injury, and the MRI could help to determine the extent of the issue. A better timetable for his return should come into focus once the results of the MRI are known.

Athletics' Matt Chapman: Suffers apparent leg injury
Chapman exited Sunday's game against the Padres with an apparent leg injury, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Chapman was replaced defensively to begin the fifth inning, and he appeared to be having his leg looked at by trainers before he was replaced. The nature and severity of the injury aren't yet known, and it's unclear whether his availability will be impacted moving forward.

Alex Bregman 3B | CHC
Astros' Alex Bregman: Team will be 'pretty cautious'
Manager Dusty Baker said that he hopes Bregman (hamstring) will be ready for the team's series against the Athletics that begins Monday, Julia Morales of AT&T SportsNet Southwest reports. Baker added that the team is going to be "pretty cautious" with Bregman and his hamstring.
Bregman deemed himself "100 percent" Thursday, but he didn't receive clearance from the training staff to return for this weekend's series against the Angels. It sounds like Bregman will receive semi-regular maintenance days once he's back on the active roster, with the Astros focused primarily on getting him back to full strength in time for the postseason.

Rafael Devers 1B | SF
Red Sox's Rafael Devers: Day off Sunday
Devers is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Blue Jays.
Both Devers and Alex Verdugo are on the bench against lefty Robbie Ray. Manager Ron Roenicke said both are just getting routine days off, per Bill Koch of The Providence Journal. Bobby Dalbec will start at third base and bat eighth.

Nick Madrigal 3B | LAA
White Sox's Nick Madrigal: Sitting for series finale
Madrigal is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Royals.
Danny Mendick will start at second base and bat eighth against right-hander Matt Harvey. Madrigal is batting .423 in seven games since returning from a shoulder injury, though all 11 hits in that span have been singles and he still sits with just one walk for the season.

Yoan Moncada 3B | LAA
White Sox's Yoan Moncada: Takes seat Sunday
Moncada is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Royals.
Moncada recently revealed that he "hasn't felt the same" since his battle with COVID-19 in July, saying he's still experiencing a "lack of energy, strength." The numbers certainly bear that out, and it would not be a surprise to see the White Sox sit him here or there down the stretch in an attempt to rejuvenate Moncada. Yolmer Sanchez starts at third base in his absence.

Josh Donaldson 3B | MIL
Twins' Josh Donaldson: Takes seat Sunday
Donaldson is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Tigers.
Donaldson just returned from a calf injury earlier in the week and it makes sense that the Twins wouldn't want to push their luck with the 34-year-old. Ehire Adrianza will take over at third base and bat eighth against right-hander Casey Mize.

Jose Ramirez 3B | CLE
Indians' Jose Ramirez: Clubs ninth homer
Ramirez went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and a stolen base Saturday against the Brewers.
Ramirez took Brandon Woodruff deep in the fifth inning to record his ninth homer of the season. Two frames earlier, he reached base on a bunt single and swiped second base -- his ninth of the campaign. Ramirez had been hitless in his previous two starts, but he has a strong .250/.347/.487 line with 29 runs scored and 26 RBI across 176 plate appearances.
