Sanoja went 2-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored during the Marlins' 3-2 win over the Nationals on Friday.

Sanoja was left out of the Marlins' lineup for Friday's series opener, but he was brought in as a pinch hitter for Owen Caissie in the sixth. Sanoja struck out in that plate appearance, but he more than made up for it in his next two at-bats with consecutive RBI singles, the second of which was the game winner in the ninth inning. He's driven in at least one run in each of his last five outings, going 9-for-19 with two home runs and eight RBI in that span.

The Rockies activated Karros from the 7-day injured list Friday.

Karros wound up missing a little over a week with his concussion symptoms. He did not embark upon a rehab assignment, but the third baseman ramped up on-field workouts this week to clear the path for his return to the Rockies' lineup. Karros has had a nice first full season in the big leagues, sporting a .265/.361/.424 slash line with 10 home runs in 116 contests.

Sanoja is not in the lineup for Friday's game versus the Nationals.

Sanoja had started at third base in each of the last four games, but he will begin Friday's festivities on the bench. Leo Jimenez is covering the hot corner and will bat ninth for the Marlins.

The Marlins optioned Pauley to Triple-A Jacksonville on Friday.

Pauley had yet to start a game this week and is sporting a lowly .534 OPS on the season. His roster spot is being absorbed by catcher Logan Driscoll.

The Diamondbacks signed Espinal to a minor-league contract Thursday.

Espinal has been assigned to Triple-A Reno. The veteran infielder was released by the Rangers last month after he failed to earn a promotion to the big leagues following nearly four weeks with Texas' Triple-A affiliate. Espinal is joining his third organization of the 2026 season. He previously appeared in 36 games for the Dodgers, slashing .268/.276/.375 with four extra-base hits, seven RBI, five runs scored and a 1:8 BB:K across 60 trips to the plate.

Sanoja went 3-for-3 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 4-1 loss to the Phillies.

Sanoja was the only Marlin who seemed to have an answer for Aaron Nola on Wednesday -- the third baseman got Miami on the board in the sixth inning with his sixth homer of the season, one of his three hits on the day. Sanoja is now 7-for-16 (.438) with a pair of homers and six RBI in his last four contests, boosting his slash line to a solid .278/.317/.425 across 348 plate appearances this season with 48 RBI, 32 runs scored and six stolen bases.

Arenado went 2-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored in Wednesday's 7-6 extra-inning win over Boston.

Arenado's bloop single plated the first of two runs in the decisive 10th inning to secure the win for the Diamondbacks and helped snap a three-game losing skid. The third baseman, who returned to the lineup after missing two games due to an intercostal injury, recorded his fourth multi-hit effort over the last seven games. Arenado is 8-for-27 (.296) with one triple, three home runs, nine RBI and two additional runs during the stretch.

Hernandez went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and an additional RBI in Wednesday's 6-4 extra-inning win over the Rockies.

Hernandez delivered offense in his first two at-bats, supplying an RBI single in the second inning before taking Kyle Freeland deep in the fourth. Hernandez continues to play regularly versus southpaws, though prior to Wednesday, he hadn't done much since returning from an oblique injury in late July. Even including that performance, he's gone 4-for-28 (.143) at the plate since he was activated, and his homer Wednesday was his first extra-base hit in that span. Overall, he's batting .250 with a .773 OPS, two homers, five RBI, four runs scored and two doubles over 33 plate appearances this season.

House is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rangers.

House will take a seat after he had started at third base or designated hitter in each of the last seven games. After recording at least one hit in the first five of those contests, House went 0-for-6 with two strikeouts in his most recent two starts.

The Cubs claimed Arias off waivers from the Mets on Wednesday.

Arias was DFA'd by the Mets after going 0-for-5 during his brief stay in Queens, and he'll now make his way to Chicago to help bolster the Cubs' infield depth. Phil Maton (knee) was transferred to the 60-day IL in a corresponding move.
