  • Brett Baty 3B | NYM

Mets' Brett Baty: Goes yard twice in loss

Baty went 3-for-4 with two home runs and four RBI in Friday's 10-8 loss to the Rays.

The young third baseman took Aaron Civale deep for a three-run blast in the second inning to open the scoring, and he then connected for a solo shot off Jason Adam in the ninth. It was the first multi-homer performance of Baty's big-league career, and it snapped a 27-game drought for the 24-year-old -- his only other long ball in 2024 came back on March 30. Despite the power outage, Baty has taken a big step forward in his development this year, and through 30 contests he's slashing .271/.340/.385, a massive improvement on last season's .212/.275/.323 line.

  • Ryan McMahon 3B | NYY

Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Launches fifth homer

McMahon went 2-for-5 with a solo home run in Friday's 3-2 win over the Pirates.

The 29-year-old led off the sixth inning by hammering a Martin Perez changeup out of PNC Park completely and into the Allegheny River, becoming only the second Colorado player in history to accomplish the feat after Todd Helton back in 2001. Three of McMahon's five homers this year have come in the last eight games, and the power surge has boosted his slash line on the season to .319/.407/.513 with 13 runs and 19 RBI in 32 contests.

  • Cubs' Christopher Morel: Homers again Friday

Morel went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 3-1 loss to the Brewers.

Morel snapped a scoreless tie with two outs in the sixth inning, launching a solo shot to centerfield off Joe Ross to put the Cubs ahead 1-0. Morel now has homers in back-to-back games and three in his last five contests following a span of 16 games without a long ball. The 24-year-old third baseman is slashing .210/.286/.403 through 133 plate appearances this year with six homers, 18 RBI, 19 runs scored and three stolen bases.

  • Joseph Ortiz 2B | MIL

Brewers' Joey Ortiz: Takes seat Friday

Ortiz is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Cubs.

It's the second straight game on the bench for Ortiz after making five consecutive starts, and he went 5-for-15 with five walks, three doubles, a homer and five RBI during that stretch. Oliver Dunn will receive another start at the hot corner Friday in Chicago.

  • Tyler Wade SS | TEX

Padres' Tyler Wade: Swipes fifth bag

Wade went 1-for-4 with two runs and a stolen base in Wednesday's 6-2 victory against the Reds.

Wade got a start at second base in place of the resting Xander Bogaerts and scored two of San Diego's six runs. The veteran began the campaign logging regular time at third base due to Manny Machado being relegated to DH duties following offseason shoulder surgery, but Machado has since returned to playing the field, cutting into both Wade's and Eguy Rosario's playing time. Wade is batting just .230 over 71 plate appearances, but he's stolen five bags and posted a useful 11.6 percent walk rate.

  • Trey Lipscomb 3B | WAS

Nationals' Trey Lipscomb: Taking seat Thursday

Lipscomb is absent from the lineup for Thursday's contest versus the Rangers.

Lipscomb had made six straight starts at third base, but he'll give way to Ildemaro Vargas at the hot corner Thursday. The rookie infielder is slashing .267/.325/.320 in 22 contests thus far at the major-league level.

  • Marlins' Emmanuel Rivera: Gets sixth straight start

Rivera will start at third base and bat eighth in Thursday's game against the Rockies, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Rivera will be awarded a sixth consecutive start after he went 2-for-2 with a walk and two runs scored in Wednesday's 4-1 win. Each of his past four starts have come at third base, and he'll continue to vie with Vidal Brujan for playing time at the position until Jake Burger (oblique) is cleared to return from the 10-day injured list. Burger began a rehab assignment Wednesday, and it's possible that he'll be ready to join the Marlins at some point during their six-game West Coast road trip that begins Friday in Oakland.

  • Austin Riley 3B | ATL

Braves' Austin Riley: On base three times Wednesday

Riley went 2-for-4 with a walk, a triple, a run scored and two RBI in Wednesday's 5-2 win over the Mariners.

That's now five hits in the last four games for Riley, while Wednesday's three-bagger was his first extra-base hit since April 17. The third baseman is slashing a disappointing .235/.311/.387 through 29 contests with two homers and 16 RBI, but he still sports an 89th percentile barrel rate and 85th percentile hard-hit rate on the season, and there's little cause for worry about his slow first month.

  • Max Muncy 3B | LAD

Dodgers' Max Muncy: Another lefty pitcher

Muncy is not in the Dodgers' starting lineup Tuesday against the Diamondbacks.

The third baseman got the start Monday versus Arizona's lefty pitcher Tommy Henry in the first game of the series, but Muncy will begin in the dugout Wednesday for the second straight game against southpaw Jordan Montgomery. Enrique Hernandez will get the start at third and bat fifth in the series finale.

  • Vidal Brujan 2B | NYM

Marlins' Vidal Brujan: Starting at shortstop Wednesday

Brujan will start at shortstop and bat eighth in Wednesday's game against the Rockies.

Brujan had been set to get the day off, but he'll be pressed into the starting nine at shortstop after Tim Anderson (thumb) was scratched from the lineup.
