  • Julio Carreras 3B | COL

Rockies' Julio Carreras: On injured list at Double-A

Double-A Hartford placed Carreras on the 7-day injured list April 25 with an unspecified injury.

He hadn't played since April 22 before landing on the IL. Carreras hit .271 with a .364 on-base percentage, two home runs and three steals in 56 plate appearances prior to suffering the injury. The Rockies added the 23-year-old shortstop to the 40-man roster back in November to protect him from being selected during the Rule 5 draft.

  • Patrick Wisdom 3B | SEA

Cubs' Patrick Wisdom: Goes deep Tuesday

Wisdom went 1-for-4 with a walk and a two-run home run in Wednesday's 10-4 win over the Cardinals.

Wisdom popped his second home run of the month and 12th of the season in the third inning. The 31-year-old came into the game mired in a 7-for-40 slump, so when he's not hitting long balls, he can be tough to stomach in fantasy leagues. Wisdom is now batting .237 with a .941 OPS and should continue to be a boom-or-bust option moving forward.

  • Nationals' Jeimer Candelario: Re-evaluated Friday

Candelario will have his right ankle injury re-evaluated Friday, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

Candelario tweaked the ankle on a slide during Wednesday's game with the Giants and had to be removed. He had the ankle taped up postgame and will hope the Nationals' off day Thursday will allow enough time to heal.

  • Nationals' Jeimer Candelario: Exits game with leg injury

Candelario was removed from Wednesday's game versus the Giants with an apparent right leg injury, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

Candelario seemed to hurt his leg on an awkward slide in the sixth inning and was then pulled in the seventh. He was replaced at third base by Michael Chavis. The Nationals should have more on Candelario's condition shortly.

  • Kevin Newman 3B | LAA

Reds' Kevin Newman: Back on bench Wednesday

Newman is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Mets.

Newman had started in eight of the Reds' last nine games, but with all of the key Cincinnati hitters healthy again with the exception of Joey Votto (shoulder), Newman looks as though he'll serve as a utility man moving forward rather than an everyday starter. He should at least continue to see regular playing time versus left-handed pitching, however.

  • Jean Segura 3B | CLE

Marlins' Jean Segura: Sits in second straight

Segura remains out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Diamondbacks, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Segura will take a seat for the second day in a row as the Marlins look to give the veteran a mental reset in what's been a brutal start to the season. Entering Wednesday, Segura is slashing an abysmal .186/.233/.212 in 121 plate appearances, with his .445 OPS a career-worst mark by 170 points. Jon Berti will pick up the start at third base, and he could soon displace Segura as an everyday option at the position if the latter can't get going sometime soon.

  • Rodolfo Castro 2B | PHI

Pirates' Rodolfo Castro: Sitting again Wednesday

Castro is out of the starting lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rockies.

Castro will begin Wednesday's contest on the bench for the second consecutive game. Chris Owings is playing shortstop and hitting eighth in Castro's absence.

  • Max Muncy 3B | LAD

Dodgers' Max Muncy: Sitting versus lefty Wednesday

Muncy is not in the starting lineup Wednesday versus the Brewers.

Muncy will head to the bench after he went 1-for-18 with two RBI, a run scored and seven punchouts over his last five games. Pair that with the fact that left-hander Wade Miley is toeing the rubber for Milwaukee on Wednesday and Muncy is batting .139 against southpaws in 2023, and it seems like a good day to give the 32-year-old a breather. Chris Taylor will draw the start at third base and bat fourth in the series finale with the Brewers.

  • Ryan McMahon 3B | NYY

Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Ends RBI drought

McMahon went 1-for-5 with a triple, two RBI and a run scored Tuesday against the Pirates.

McMahon delivered a two-RBI triple in the seventh inning, extending the Rockies' lead to seven runs. Those were his first runs batted in across his last seven games, and he had just two hits across 23 at-bats in that span. McMahon has had a poor start to the season, as he's hitting only .203/.275/.383 across 142 plate appearances. Most concerningly, his strikeout rate has ballooned to 34.5 percent.

  • Evan Longoria 3B | ARI

Diamondbacks' Evan Longoria: Goes deep in three-hit effort

Longoria went 3-for-4 with a solo home run and a double in Tuesday's 6-2 loss to the Marlins.

Longoria came up a triple shy of the cycle, but he hasn't hit a three-bagger since 2020, so he was never much of a threat for the feat. The homer was Longoria's second in his last six games and his fourth of the season. The 37-year-old raised his slash line to .229/.276/.443 with seven RBI, 10 runs scored and three doubles through 76 plate appearances this season. He continues to be a short-side platoon option at third base and designated hitter.
