  • Max Muncy 3B | LAD

Dodgers' Max Muncy: Homers, reaches base four times

Muncy went 2-for-3 with a solo home run, two walks and an additional run in a 4-0 win against the Diamondbacks on Tuesday.

Muncy singled and scored in the second inning, walked in the third, homered in the seventh and walked again in the ninth. Despite missing some time recently with a knee injury, the 32-year-old has picked up right where he left off with a .361/.425/.750 slash line and four home runs in nine September games.

  • Marlins' Jordan Groshans: Hitless in debut

Groshans went 0-for-3 in his major-league debut Tuesday as the Phillies beat the Marlins, 2-1.

Groshans batted eighth and played third base in his first big-league game, flying out twice and grounding out once. Miami acquired the former top prospect in a deal that sent Zach Pop and Anthony Bass to Toronto before the trade deadline. Since joining Triple-A Jacksonville in August, Groshans has posted a .301/.399/.416 slash line with two homers and a 19:19 BB:K. He'll likely serve in a utility role down the stretch for the Marlins.

  • Nationals' Ildemaro Vargas: Stays hot with two more hits

Vargas went 2-for-3 with a run scored and a steal in Tuesday's 4-3 loss to the Orioles.

Vargas recorded his third straight multi-hit game with two base knocks Tuesday. The utility man singled and scored in the third inning, singled again in the fourth and walked and stole second base in the ninth. The stolen base was his third of the season, and the two-hit effort increased his slash line to .293/.338/.450 through 152 plate appearances.

  • Ke'Bryan Hayes 3B | CIN

Pirates' Ke'Bryan Hayes: Held out of Game 2 lineup

Hayes is not in the lineup for the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Reds.

Hayes went 2-for-4 with a homer and two runs in the first game on Tuesday's schedule, but he will not start the second contest with the Pirates loading up on lefties against Reds starter Fernando Cruz. Rodolfo Castro will man the hot corner in Hayes' place.

  • Jace Peterson SS | ARI

Brewers' Jace Peterson: Benched versus lefty

Peterson isn't in the lineup Tuesday against St. Louis, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

The lefty-throwing Jordan Montgomery will start the game on the mound for the Cardinals, so Peterson will hand third base off to Mike Brosseau, who will lead off the Brewers' order.

  • Kyle Farmer 3B | ATL

Reds' Kyle Farmer: Not in lineup for nightcap

Farmer is not in the lineup for Game 2 of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Pirates.

Farmer went 1-for-4 with an RBI in the opener, but he will be limited to bench duty in the nightcap. Spencer Steer will man the hot corner in Farmer's place.

  • Marlins' Jordan Groshans: Making MLB debut Tuesday

Groshans' contract was selected from Triple-A Jacksonville and he is starting Tuesday against the Phillies, Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports.

Groshans was traded from Toronto to Miami at the trade deadline for big-league relievers. He has a very strong track record of patience and an ability to make frequent contact in the minors, but Groshans has struggled to tap into his raw power in games. The No. 12 overall pick in 2018 hit .301/.398/.416 (123 wRC+) with two home runs and as many walks as strikeouts (19) in 31 games at Triple-A Jacksonville. Since the trade, he played 12 games at third base, 10 games at shortstop and nine games at second base, so he could play all over the infield over the final three weeks of the season.

  • Marlins' Jordan Groshans: Set to be called up Tuesday

Groshans is expected to be called up by the Marlins on Tuesday, Craig Mish of SportsGrid.com reports.

Groshans posted an .814 OPS over 31 games with Triple-A Jacksonville after being acquired from the Blue Jays at the trade deadline, and it appears that earned him his first trip to the big leagues.

  • Ke'Bryan Hayes 3B | CIN

Pirates' Ke'Bryan Hayes: Swipes two bags

Hayes went 2-for-5 with a run scored and two stolen bases in Monday's 6-3 win over the Reds.

Hayes stole second and third base in the fifth inning and he's now 17-for-22 in steal attempts on the year. He's hitting just .236 with six multi-hit games through 25 appearances since the start of August. Hayes has registered a .244/.314/.343 slash line with 47 runs scored and 29 extra-base hits through 490 plate appearances.

  • Evan Longoria 3B | ARI

Giants' Evan Longoria: Takes seat Monday

Longoria isn't in the starting lineup for Monday's game against Atlanta, John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Longoria will get a night off after collecting a pair of hits in Sunday's series finale in Chicago. Wilmer Flores gets the nod at the hot corner and is set to hit third in Longoria's absence.
