Pirates' Jack Brannigan: On mend from labrum surgery

The Pirates announced last week that Brannigan underwent season-ending surgery to repair the labrum in his right shoulder, Noah Hiles of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Double-A Altoona initially placed Brannigan on the injured list June 14 before the Pirates determined just over a month later that he would need an operation to address his shoulder injury. The 24-year-old infielder is expected to make a full recovery in advance of the next season, but he'll finish the 2025 campaign with a .225/.329/.358 slash line to go with five home runs and nine stolen bases across 237 plate appearances with Altoona.

Diamondbacks' Eugenio Suarez: X-rays come back clean

X-rays on Suarez's right index finger came back negative after he was hit by a pitch during Monday's 5-1 loss to the Tigers, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports. He finished the contest 1-for-3 with a base hit.

Suarez took a 96-mile-per-hour fastball from Will Vest off his dominant hand during his final plate appearance in the top of the ninth inning. Manager Torey Lovullo has labeled Suarez as day-to-day for now, but the veteran third baseman will undergo further testing Tuesday. With the Diamondbacks looking to sell ahead of Thursday's trade deadline and Suarez being one of the top bats available, his status warrants close attention.

Diamondbacks' Eugenio Suarez: Undergoing X-rays on hand

Manager Torey Lovullo said after Monday's loss to the Tigers that Suarez will undergo X-rays on his right hand, Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic reports.

Lovullo continued to say that Suarez's hand and fingers were tender to the touch, and he's viewed as day-to-day for the time being. Suarez took a 96 mph fastball from Will Vest off the right hand in the top of the ninth inning and was immediately removed from the game in favor of Blaze Alexander.

Diamondbacks' Eugenio Suarez: Exits after HBP on hand

Suarez exited Monday's game against the Tigers after being hit by a pitch on the right hand in the top of the ninth inning, Alex D'Agostino of SI.com reports.

Suarez took a 96 mph fastball from Will Vest off the hand and was removed from the game in favor of Blaze Alexander. On the evening, Suarez went 1-for-3 at the plate. The subject of heavy trade speculation in the three days leading up to the deadline, Suarez will presumably undergo X-rays.

  • Max Muncy 3B | LAD

Dodgers' Max Muncy: Beginning rehab assignment Tuesday

Manager Dave Roberts said Monday that Muncy (knee) will begin his rehab assignment with Triple-A Oklahoma City on Tuesday, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.

Muncy landed on the 10-day injured list in early July due to a bone bruise in his left knee. He has recovered more quickly than expected, and he could return to the big club in early August if his rehab assignment goes smoothly. Muncy posted an .832 OPS with four steals, 13 home runs and 55 RBI across 315 plate appearances prior to his injury.

  • Nolan Arenado 3B | ARI

Cardinals' Nolan Arenado: Taking seat Monday

Arenado is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Marlins.

Arenado has gone 1-for-13 at the plate during the first four games of the Cardinals' homestand and appears to be getting a routine day off Monday. Thomas Saggese will cover third base and bat eighth for the Cardinals.

  • Ke'Bryan Hayes 3B | CIN

Pirates' Ke'Bryan Hayes: Chips in insurance runs

Hayes went 1-for-4 with two RBI on Sunday against the Diamondbacks.

Hayes delivered a two-RBI single in the eighth inning to give the Pirates a 6-0 lead. He had a mediocre nine-game homestand, going 8-for-33 with two doubles, five RBI and four runs scored. Despite the decent stretch, Hayes is still hitting just .208 across 20 games in July.

  • Matt Chapman 3B | SF

Giants' Matt Chapman: Clubs pair of homers

Chapman went 2-for-5 with two home runs and three RBI in Sunday's 5-3 loss to the Mets.

Chapman's second blast put the Giants ahead 3-2 in the fifth inning, but the lead didn't stick. The third baseman went 3-for-12 with two homers and five strikeouts over three games against the Mets after an elbow injury scare Wednesday versus Atlanta that ultimately didn't cost him a full game of action. Chapman is up to a .243/.351/.459 slash line with 16 homers, 41 RBI, 49 runs scored and seven stolen bases over 82 contests this season.

  • Ronny Mauricio 2B | NYM

Mets' Ronny Mauricio: Homers in four-hit game

Mauricio went 4-for-4 with a solo home run and an RBI double in Sunday's 5-3 win over the Giants.

Mauricio is batting .295 (13-for-44) over 15 contests in July after posting his best game of the season. Sunday saw him hit his first homer and supply his first RBI since July 8 in Baltimore. The infielder is up to a .252/.320/.441 slash line with five homers, eight RBI, 16 runs scored and three stolen bases over 122 plate appearances this season. He's currently in a strong-side platoon role at third base while Mark Vientos picks up extra time at designated hitter in the absence of Jesse Winker (back).

  • Padres' Manny Machado: Fuels offense in series finale

Machado went 4-for-5 with two doubles and three RBI in Sunday's 9-2 win at St. Louis.

The San Diego third baseman is now riding a streak of five games with multiple hits, as he knocked his 26th and 27th two-baggers of the season off Cardinals starter Michael McGreevy. This performance marks the 25th time Machado has collected four or more hits in a game during his 14-year career. The seven-time All-Star is now slashing .300/.360/.506 with 19 homers, 66 RBI and 61 runs scored in 453 total plate appearances.
