  • Jean Segura 3B | CLE

    Phillies' Jean Segura: Resting Tuesday

Segura will get the day off Tuesday against the Mets.

The Phillies open the season with games on 13 consecutive days, so they'll look to give their regulars some rest following a shortened spring schedule. Bryson Stott will start at second base in Segura's absence.

  • Evan Longoria 3B | ARI

Giants' Evan Longoria: Taking part in baseball work

Longoria (finger) is participating in limited baseball activities, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Longoria underwent surgery to repair a ligament in his right index finger in late-March, and he's now doing baseball work after having his stitches removed Friday. The 36-year-old was initially expected to be sidelined 4-to-6 weeks, but if his rehab continues to go well he could be back on the field before the end of April.

  • Jace Peterson SS | ARI

Brewers' Jace Peterson: Out against lefty

Peterson is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Orioles.

With southpaw Bruce Zimmermann on the bump for Baltimore, the lefty-hitting Peterson will head to the bench for the second time in the Brewers' first four games. Mike Brosseau will fill in for Peterson at third base, and the two will likely work in a platoon at the hot corner until Luis Urias (quadriceps) is ready to return from the injured list.

  • Nolan Arenado 3B | ARI

Cardinals' Nolan Arenado: Hits two-run shot

Arenado went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Sunday's loss against Pittsburgh.

Arenado has recorded hits in each of his first three games of the season and has multiple RBI -- as well as recording at least one extra-base hit -- in each of those contests. Through three games this season, Arenado is hitting .500 with two homers, seven RBI, three doubles and four runs scored. It's also worth noting that five of his six hits have gone for extra bases.

  • Kevin Newman 3B | LAA

Pirates' Kevin Newman: Gets Monday off

Newman is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Cardinals.

Pittsburgh and St. Louis are concluding their four-game series with a matinee contest, so Newman is likely just getting a breather for the start of a seven-game week for the Pirates. He started at shortstop in each of the first three games of the season, going 3-for-12 with two doubles and an RBI while slotting in fifth, ninth and sixth in the batting order. Hoy Park will draw the start at shortstop Monday, but Newman appears to be fairly secure in an everyday role in the middle infield.

  • Jean Segura 3B | CLE

Phillies' Jean Segura: Prevents shutout Sunday

Segura went 1-for-4 with a solo homer in Sunday's 4-1 loss to the Phillies.

Segura's now gone deep in back-to-back games after knocking a ninth-inning blast off Lou Trivino on Sunday. Three of his four hits in the season's opening series went for extra bases. The veteran infielder reached base five times in those three games and scored three runs.

  • Kyle Farmer 3B | ATL

Reds' Kyle Farmer: Swipes bag in loss

Farmer went 2-for-3 with a double, a walk, two RBI and a stolen base in Sunday's win over Atlanta.

After his sixth-inning steal against the battery of Sean Newcomb and Travis d'Arnaud, Farmer is already halfway to his 2021 stolen base total. Adding a speed element would make Farmer much more interesting from a fantasy standpoint. He's otherwise a modest contributor, even with near-everyday playing time.

  • Padres' Manny Machado: Smacks two hits Saturday

Machado went 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI, two runs scored, a walk and a stolen base Saturday against the Diamondbacks.

Machado went hitless on Opening Day but has racked up three hits over his last nine at-bats since then. The star third baseman should be one of the main offensive threats for the Padres going forward and looks to be hitting his stride with hits in back-to-back games.

  • Mike Moustakas 3B | CHW

Reds' Mike Moustakas: Shifts to bench

Moustakas is not in Sunday's lineup against Atlanta.

Moustakas started each of the team's first three games of the campaign, and he collected one hit in 10 plate appearances. Colin Moran will draw his first start of the season in Moustakas' absence, playing third base while hitting seventh.

  • Jean Segura 3B | CLE

Phillies' Jean Segura: Swats first homer

Segura went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 4-2 victory versus Oakland.

Segura was one of three Phillies to go deep in the contest, as his sixth-inning solo shot accounted for the team's final run of the game. The veteran infielder belted 14 homers last season -- the most he has totaled since the 2016 season. Segura is off to a strong start in 2022, going 3-for-7 with two extra-base hits and two runs over two games.
