Marlins' Brian Anderson: Riding pine Thursday
Anderson isn't starting Thursday's game against the Mets, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
Anderson will be out of the lineup for a second straight game after he went 2-for-8 with a run, a stolen base, two walks and four strikeouts across his last three appearances. Isan Diaz will start at the hot corner and bat sixth.

Eugenio Suarez 3B | CIN
Reds' Eugenio Suarez: Connects for 24th homer
Suarez went 2-for-4 with a double, a solo home run and a second run scored in a 12-2 rout of the Cardinals during the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader.
The 30-year-old wasn't in the starting lineup for the matinee of the twin bill, but he did collect a pinch-hit single before flexing his muscles in the nightcap. Suarez hadn't had a multi-hit performance since July 20, and on the year he's batting a woeful .174 with 24 homers, 58 runs and 67 RBI through 122 games.

Kyle Farmer 3B | ATL
Reds' Kyle Farmer: Belts 13th homer
Farmer went 1-for-3 with a home run and three RBI in a 12-2 rout of the Cardinals during the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader.
He launched a two-run shot off Junior Fernandez in the second inning before adding a sacrifice fly in the third. Including his 1-for-3 effort with a run scored in the matinee, Farmer is batting .258 on the year with 13 homers, 49 runs and 51 RBI -- all career highs -- through 126 games.

Nolan Arenado 3B | ARI
Cardinals' Nolan Arenado: Clubs 27th homer
Arenado went 1-for-2 with a solo home run in a 12-2 loss to the Reds during the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader.
The third baseman took Sonny Gray deep in the fourth inning, but the Cards were already in an 11-1 hole at that point. Arenado only had one homer in his prior 14 games including Wednesday's matinee, though on the season the 30-year-old is batting .256 with 27 home runs, 63 runs and 85 RBI through 129 contests.

Evan Longoria 3B | ARI
Giants' Evan Longoria: Resumes swinging
Longoria (hand) was cleared to resume taking swings Wednesday, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Longoria received a cortisone injection to address his hand soreness Tuesday and was able to quickly resume swinging a bat. The 34-year-old could rejoin the big-league roster relatively soon if he can continue ramping things up without any further issues.

Eduardo Escobar 3B | TOR
Brewers' Eduardo Escobar: Should return Friday
Escobar (hamstring) is expected to be reinstated from the injured list for Friday's series opener against the Cardinals, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
Manager Craig Counsell said earlier in the week that Escobar should return during the weekend series versus St. Louis, and it appears he'll be ready to go for the first contest of that three-game set. The 32-year-old landed on the injured list Aug. 23 with a strained right hamstring, and he'll end up missing little more than the 10-day minimum.

Matt Duffy 3B | TEX
Cubs' Matt Duffy: Scratched with neck stiffness
Duffy was scratched from Wednesday's lineup against the Twins with right neck stiffness.
Duffy was slated to start at second base and bat fifth, but he was instead removed from the lineup due to the injury. It's unclear if the 30-year-old will be available off the bench for manager David Ross.

Ke'Bryan Hayes 3B | CIN
Pirates' Ke'Bryan Hayes: Still not starting
Hayes (hand) isn't starting Wednesday's game against the White Sox.
Hayes suffered a bruised hand Sunday and hasn't yet resumed swinging. While the 24-year-old is still considered day-to-day, he'll be sidelined for a second straight game while Hoy Park starts at third base and bats ninth.
-
Mike Moustakas 3B | CHW
Reds' Mike Moustakas: Idle for nightcap
Moustakas is out of the lineup for the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader with the Cardinals.
After a two-game absence due to a right hip injury, Moustakas made his return to the lineup for the first game of the doubleheader and went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts in the Reds' 5-4 loss. Moustakas isn't believed to have experienced a setback in Game 1; his absence for the nightcap is likely just matchup-related with southpaw J.A. Happ on the mound for St. Louis. Eugenio Suarez will step in at third base for the lefty-hitting Moustakas.

Edmundo Sosa 3B | PHI
Cardinals' Edmundo Sosa: Not starting Game 2
Sosa isn't starting the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Reds, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports.
Sosa started at shortstop in the first game of the twin bill and went 1-for-3 with an RBI and a strikeout. Paul DeJong will take over at shortstop and bat seventh in the nightcap.
