Vosler homered in his only plate appearance Wednesday against Arizona.

The rookie pinch ran for Darin Ruf in the sixth frame and subsequently stayed in the game to play first base. He got an opportunity to hit in a tie game in the eighth inning, and Vosler came through with a solo shot to right field that provided the winning run. The long ball was Vosler's first as a major-leaguer and only his third hit overall. The 27-year-old has some pop, having hit 20-plus homers in the minors during each season between 2017 and 2019.

The Giants recalled Vosler to the big-league roster Wednesday, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

The 2014 draft pick will fill the roster spot of Brandon Belt (oblique), who is expected to spend up to two weeks on the injured list. Vosler has two hits in 14 big-league at-bats this season and has hit .200 at Triple-A.

Machado (shoulder) is not starting Wednesday's game against the Brewers, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

His shoulder soreness will keep him out of the lineup once again, as he hasn't played since May 19. Either the injury is lingering longer than anticipated or the Padres expect Machado to return in the next couple days, because the star third baseman is approaching 10 days since the injury, yet he has not been placed on the injured list. There was talk of Machado being available as a pinch hitter Tuesday, so he does appear close to being ready.

Peterson was outrighted to Triple-A Nashville after he cleared waivers Wednesday.

Peterson was cast off the 40-man roster Monday after he was reinstated from the 10-day injured list, and he'll remain with Triple-A Nashville going forward. The 31-year-old has appeared in 12 minor-league games this year and has slashed .289/.357/.632 with three home runs, four doubles, 14 RBI and nine runs.

The Reds announced Wednesday that Senzel will require arthroscopic surgery on his left knee. He's expected to miss 4-to-6 weeks.

Senzel was placed on the 10-day injured list Friday due to left knee inflammation, and the issue is apparently more serious than the team initially anticipated. Manager David Bell described the surgery as a "clean-up" but said that the Reds won't have an official timetable for Senzel's return until the procedure is complete, Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports. Jonathan India should serve as Cincinnati's primary second baseman while Senzel is out.

Suarez will lead off and man third base Wednesday against the Nationals, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Suarez's .228 on-base percentage and average speed wouldn't seem to make him a logical fit for the leadoff gig, but manager David Bell appears content to give the 29-year-old a trial in the role while the team remains without three everyday players (Joey Votto, Nick Senzel and Mike Moustakas) due to injury. In his first career start out of the leadoff spot in Tuesday's 2-1 win, Suarez struck out three times, but he connected on a pivotal solo home run off Max Scherzer in the sixth inning.

Longoria went 3-for-4 with a home run, a double, a walk, four RBI and two runs in Tuesday's 8-0 win over the Diamondbacks.

Longoria reached base in each of his first four at-bats, with his third-inning three-run homer doubling the Giants' lead to an early 6-0 margin. This continues a hot stretch for the veteran third baseman, who's gone 7-for-16 with two homers and seven RBI over his past four games.

Suarez went 1-for-4 with a home run in Tuesday's win over the Nationals.

Suarez launched his 10th homer of the season off Max Scherzer in the sixth, but that would be everything he'd contribute to the win -- he struck out in each of his other three at-bats. The veteran has reached double-digit long balls for the seventh year in a row, though he isn't contributing much in other categories -- he owns a .150 average with a meager .586 OPS.

McMahon went 1-for-4 with a solo home run during Tuesday's loss to the Mets.

McMahon put the Rockies on the board by taking Jacob deGrom deep in the second inning. The 26-year-old is now batting .258/.306/.527 on the season while leading the Rockies in homers (13), hits (47) and RBI (31).

Davis (finger/neck) underwent an MRI that showed joint inflammation in his left hand and will receive treatment before resuming baseball activities, Tim Britton of The Athletic reports.

The 28-year-old had his rehab assignment at Triple-A Syracuse paused over the weekend due to neck stiffness, and he returned to the Mets to be evaluated after experiencing some hand soreness during a workout. Davis appeared close to returning from the injured list, but that timeline has now been pushed back while he's receiving treatment for the inflammation.
