  • Nick Senzel 3B | LAD

Reds' Nick Senzel: Exits in first inning

Senzel exited Wednesday's game against the Brewers after singling in the top of the first inning, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports.

He returned Monday from a hamstring injury, so it's possible that he just re-aggravated that injury. Phillip Ervin replaced him as a pinch runner and should stick in the game as the center fielder. The Reds have an off day Thursday.

  • Mike Moustakas 3B | CHW

Brewers' Mike Moustakas: Receives day off

Moustakas is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Reds.

Moustakas' absence is likely little more than a routine breather with the 30-year-old having started in each of the past six games and with the Brewers and Reds wrapping up their series with an afternoon contest. Tyler Saladino will fill in for Moustakas at the hot corner.

  • Jean Segura 3B | CLE

Phillies' Jean Segura: Out again Wednesday

Segura (heel) is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Tigers, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.

Segura's bruised heel will keep him out of the lineup for a second straight day, but the Phillies' decision to deploy him off the bench in Tuesday's 15-inning win suggests his injury likely isn't a major concern. After a team off day Thursday, Segura should have a decent shot at returning to the starting nine at shortstop for Friday's series opener versus the Braves.

  • Eugenio Suarez 3B | CIN

Reds' Eugenio Suarez: Resting for afternoon game

Suarez is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Brewers.

Manager David Bell will award Suarez with his first day off since June 2 with the Reds and Brewers concluding their series with an afternoon game. Suarez has been on fire at the dish over his 12 starts since the All-Star break, slashing .333/.423/.905 with seven home runs, 13 RBI, 12 runs and a stolen base. Josh VanMeter will spell Suarez at the hot corner.

  • Diamondbacks' Ildemaro Vargas: Shipped to minors

Vargas was optioned to Triple-A Reno following Tuesday's loss to the Orioles, Zach Buchanan of The Athletic reports.

Vargas has only 14 at-bats since the All-Star break, so it's no major surprise to see him headed to the minors with David Peralta (shoulder) nearing his return from the injured list. Vargas has a .260/.296/.391 slash line in 169 at-bats this season.

  • Josh Donaldson 3B | MIL

Braves' Josh Donaldson: Drives in two

Donaldson went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI on Tuesday against the Royals.

Donaldson got the Braves on the board in the first frame, doubling home Dansby Swanson. He followed that up with an RBI single in the ninth inning, pulling the Braves to within one. Donaldson has been very productive at the plate of late, as he now has 15 RBI across his last 11 contests, powered by five home runs. Overall, he's hitting .259/.377/.523 across 411 plate appearances for the campaign.

  • Eugenio Suarez 3B | CIN

Reds' Eugenio Suarez: Power surge continues

Suarez went 3-for-4 with a double, a home run, two runs scored and three RBI in Tuesday's 14-6 win over the Brewers.

He took Zach Davies deep in the first inning for a two-run shot, Suarez's third long ball in the last two games and seventh in 12 games since the All-Star break. The 28-year-old is slashing a dazzling .333/.412/.905 during that stretch, and on the season Suarez now has 27 homers and 67 RBI in 99 contests.

  • Jean Segura 3B | CLE

    Phillies' Jean Segura: Out Tuesday

Segura (heel) isn't in the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the Tigers.

Segura was forced to leave Sunday's matchup with Pittsburgh due to a heel injury, and the issue is significant enough to keep him out of Tuesday's starting nine. He'll be considered day-to-day moving forward and is unlikely to be used off the bench in the series opener, per Todd Zolecki of MLB.com. With Segura out of the mix, Scott Kingery is set to start at shortstop.

  • Nolan Arenado 3B | ARI

Rockies' Nolan Arenado: Playing through pain

Arenado said Monday that he's been feeling banged up lately, but he doesn't believe he'll need to sit out any games in order to heal up, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports. "Every day I've felt better this year, body-wise, I've hit a ball off my leg or something," Arenado said. "The first game in New York [Friday], I felt great. I said, 'My body feels good [Monday]. I'm responding well.' Then against J.A. Happ, I hit a cutter right into my shin, and then my leg was killing me. It feels like there's always something going on."

The Rockies had their series opener in Washington postponed Monday on account of rain, and the unexpected day off may have been beneficial to Arenado more than just about anyone else. As the third baseman noted, he's been bruised and banged up over the last week, fouling a ball off his left shin and getting drilled on the left hand by a pitch during that time. While Arenado hasn't missed any time, his decision to play through the pain may explain in some part why he's gone 9-for-35 at the dish in his 10 games since the All-Star break. He'll hope that the time off he received Monday will allow him to get back on track when the two teams return to action Tuesday.

  • Evan Longoria 3B | ARI

Giants' Evan Longoria: Takes part in fielding drills

Longoria (foot) was spotted on the field Monday taking part in fielding drills, the Associated Press reports.

Longoria, who is recovering from a bout of plantar fasciitis in his left foot, also played catch as part of the workout. The Giants remain vague on a target return date for Longoria, though the veteran third baseman is hopeful he'll be ready to come off the 10-day injured list by late July or early August.
