  • Cody Asche 3B | NYM

Phillies' Cody Asche: Out of Thursday's lineup

Asche is out of the lineup Thursday against the Giants, the Philly Voice's Ryan Lawrence reports.

The Phillies will try the combination of Jimmy Paredes and Tyler Goeddel in the outfield corners Thursday. Even though Asche has been in the lineup pretty frequently this season, it would seem that Aaron Altherr and Odubel Herrera are the only outfielders who can be assured five or six starts each week going forward, as they have the best chance of profiling as contributors on the next winning Phillies team.

  • Nolan Arenado 3B | ARI

Rockies' Nolan Arenado: Ties for NL homer lead

Arenado went 2-for-3 with his 27th homer, a walk, three RBI and three runs against the Dodgers on Wednesday.

He was lifted for a pinch hitter late with the game well in hand, or Arenado could have added even more to that sparkling line. He's now tied injured teammate Trevor Story for the National League lead in homers with 27, and his 82 RBI are good enough to lead the senior circuit. Considering how much contact Arenado makes and how thunderous it tends to be, it's stunning that he's been such a low-BABIP hitter (.272 this year, .287 in his career) despite playing in Coors Field for half his games. At some point in future seasons, more hits are going to start falling in for Arenado, and he's going to start contending for Triple Crown.

  • DJ LeMahieu 2B | NYY

Rockies' DJ LeMahieu: Homers in 3-for-4 effort against Dodgers

LeMahieu went 3-for-4 with a homer, a walk, two RBI and two runs against the Dodgers on Wednesday.

Fantasy owners who ignored the veteran second baseman in drafts this season have to be regretting it, as he's now hitting a spicy .324 with an .865 OPS -- both career highs. The homer (his seventh of the season) also established a new career mark for LeMahieu, although fantasy owners who were counting on him to steal bases have been rewarded with only nine. Still, that's quite forgivable, considering the guy has a legitimate shot at scoring 100 runs this year.

  • Jace Peterson SS | ARI

Braves' Jace Peterson: Not in lineup Wednesday

Peterson is not in the starting lineup for the Braves on Wednesday.

Peterson will get the day off as Gordon Beckham leads off and plays second base for the Braves. The 26-year-old has played well in the leadoff spot for Atlanta over his last 10 games, hitting .286 with eight walks in 35 at-bats. Expect Peterson back in the lineup Thursday as the Braves face Ryan Vogelsong and the Pirates.

  • Jean Segura 3B | CLE

Diamondbacks' Jean Segura: Not in lineup Wednesday

Segura is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Nationals.

It looks to be nothing more than a rare day off for Segura, who went 1-for-5 in Tuesday's loss to Washington. Arizona will go with Brandon Drury at second base, and he'll hit seventh in the order.

  • Anthony Rendon 3B | LAA

Nationals' Anthony Rendon: Doubles, drives in three against Arizona

Rendon went 2-for-5 with a double, a run scored and three RBI in Monday's blowout win over the Diamondbacks.

Rendon now owns a five-game hitting streak, four of which have included an extra-base hit, with seven RBI and just one strikeout over the mini-hot streak. His OPS is now up to .779, a 72-point improvement over last season.

  • Matt Reynolds 3B | CIN

Mets' Matt Reynolds: Homers in loss to Yankees

Reynolds hit a three-run homer as part of a 2-for-4 game in Monday's loss to the Yankees.

For all Reynolds's struggles in his first stint, he did manage a .419 slugging percentage behind six extra-base hits over 27 games. He also struck out Monday, and his 32.3 percent strikeout rate was his major limiting factor in his previous stint with the Mets. He has great power for a middle infielder; the question is if he'll make enough contact for it to matter.

  • Matt Reynolds 3B | CIN

Mets' Matt Reynolds: Recalled from Triple-A

Reynolds was recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas on Monday.

Reynolds will return from Triple-A for the first time since before the All-Star break, when he was optioned to make room on the roster for Jose Reyes. He'll immediately slot into Monday's lineup, batting seventh and playing shortstop.

  • Jean Segura 3B | CLE

Diamondbacks' Jean Segura: Leads off game with homer

Segura went 2-for-4 with a double, home run and two RBI in Saturday's victory over the Dodgers.

Segura opened the game with a leadoff homer in the top of the first to propel the D'Backs to just their third win in their past 11 games. The infielder now has nine longballs on the year and is on pace to break his career-high home run total (12) set in 2013 with the Brewers. Segura has been stroking this month, hitting .316 with six doubles, four homers, eight RBI and 16 runs over 95 at-bats.

  • Nolan Arenado 3B | ARI

Rockies' Nolan Arenado: Gets a rare day off

Arenado is out of the lineup Sunday against the Mets, MLB.com's Thomas Harding reports.

Arenado is getting what is being described as a regular day off -- his second since the All-Star break and only his third overall of the season. Daniel Descalso will get the call at the hot corner in his stead Sunday afternoon.
