Reds' Eugenio Suarez: Out of Sunday's lineup

Suarez is out of the lineup Sunday against the Brewers, MLB.com's Mark Sheldon reports.

Suarez has been dreadful of late, to say the least. He hasn't recorded a base hit since May 19, and has dropped his batting average more than 30 points over that span. What initially appeared to be one of the surprises of the 2016 season, Suarez has now spiraled back down to earth. Manager Bryan Price will give him a day off to hopefully right the ship, giving Adam Duvall his first start of the season at third base.

Reds' Eugenio Suarez: Mired in a deep slump

Suarez went 0-for-3 on Saturday and then was lifted in a double-switch. He's hitless in his last 27 at-bats.

Suarez at least didn't strike out in this game, as he's done 15 times during this slump.

  • Anthony Rendon 3B | LAA

Nationals' Anthony Rendon: Returns to action Sunday

Rendon is back in the lineup Sunday against the Cardinals, Mark Zuckerman of MASN Sports reports.

Rendon was given the day off Saturday, but will return to action Sunday to start at the hot corner and bat sixth in the order. After a slow start to the year, he's batted .281 in May to bring his season average up to .262. Prior to Saturday's day off, he had recorded multi-hit efforts on back-to-back days.

  • Nolan Arenado 3B | ARI

Rockies' Nolan Arenado: Knocks in a pair in Saturday defeat

Arenado went 2-for-5 with a double, two RBI and a run scored in Saturday's 10-5 loss to the Giants.

The 25-year-old slugger now has four RBI over the last three games, with at least one in each contest. He's also hit safely in three of his last four, but has cooled off in the long-ball department. After starting the season with 10 homers in April, Arenado has tallied a modest four this month, with the most recent coming on May 20 versus the Pirates.

  • Matt Duffy 3B | TEX

Giants' Matt Duffy: Pitches in with pair of hits Saturday

Duffy went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored in Saturday's 10-5 victory over the Rockies.

After seeing a modest six-game hitting streak snapped Friday, the 25-year-old was right back at it again Saturday, tallying his third multi-hit outing in the last five games. Despite the recent success, Duffy has been somewhat lacking in the hard contact department, as he's yet to hit a homer in May and only has five extra-base hits (all doubles) during the month.

  • Anthony Rendon 3B | LAA

Nationals' Anthony Rendon: Out of lineup Saturday

Drew is out of the lineup for Saturday's tilt with the Cardinals, Chelsea Janes of the Washington Post reports.

Drew is simply getting a rest day, and will be replaced in the lineup by Stephen Drew. The timing of the day off is fortunate for Drew, who is 0-for-10 in his career against Adam Wainwright. Expect him to return to the lineup Sunday.

  • DJ LeMahieu 2B | NYY

Rockies' DJ LeMahieu: Not in Saturday's lineup

LeMahieu is not in the lineup Saturday against the Giants, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.

It looks like nothing more than a scheduled day off for LeMahieu, the regular starter at second base this season. He'll be relieved Saturday by Cristhian Adames, who's making his first start since Wednesday.

  • Cody Asche 3B | NYM

Phillies' Cody Asche: Rehab transferred to Triple-A

Asche (oblique) went 1-for-5 with a run scored in his first rehab game at Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Friday.

Asche is now 6-for-39 with two home runs, 13 strikeouts and three walks across three minor league levels on his rehab assignment. He could rejoin the Phillies this weekend or at the latest by the middle of next week when his rehab assignment has to end.

  • Nolan Arenado 3B | ARI

Rockies' Nolan Arenado: Plates run for second consecutive game

Arenado went 1-for-4 with a double and an RBI Friday against the Giants.

The third baseman has hit safely in five of the last 10 games, but he's gone a mere 7-for-36 (.194) over that span, so Colorado clearly needs more production out of him. A silver lining is the fact that Arenado has driven runs in the last two games, and he's one of the NL leaders in that department with 36.

  • Kevin Newman 3B | LAA

Pirates' Kevin Newman: Out with orbital fracture

Newman suffered a fractured left orbital bone Thursday while playing for High-A Bradenton, Pirates Prospects reports.

He'll travel to Pittsburgh for further evaluation, but it wouldn't be surprising to see the No. 1 draft choice miss at least a month. Newman is hitting .346/.414/.444 in 38 games this season.
