Brewers' Jace Peterson: Gets breather Saturday

Peterson isn't starting Saturday's game against the Cardinals.

Peterson will take a seat with left-hander Steven Matz on the mound for St. Louis. Mike Brosseau will start at the hot corner and bat eighth.

  • DJ LeMahieu 2B | NYY

Yankees' DJ LeMahieu: On bench Saturday

LeMahieu isn't starting Saturday's game against the Orioles.

LeMahieu recorded hits in each of the last four games and went 6-for-15 with two doubles, two runs and an RBI during that time. He'll get a breather while Gleyber Torres starts at second base and bats seventh.

  • Jean Segura 3B | CLE

Phillies' Jean Segura: Still not starting

Segura (hand) isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against Miami.

Segura will be excluded from the lineup for a third straight game after he was hit by a pitch on his hand Wednesday. Bryson Stott will shift to second base while Johan Camargo starts at the hot corner.

  • Yoan Moncada 3B | LAA

White Sox's Yoan Moncada: Still experiencing discomfort

Manager Tony La Russa said Saturday that Moncada (oblique) is still experiencing discomfort when making some movements required for defense, James Fegan of The Athletic reports.

Moncada has been sidelined since the start of the regular season due to a Grade 1 oblique strain and initially carried a recovery timetable of approximately three weeks. While it's still possible that his pain subsides in time to meet that estimate, La Russa didn't want to put a timetable on the next steps in Moncada's recovery until the 26-year-old is pain-free. Jake Burger has drawn most of the starts at third base early in the regular season and should continue to do so until Moncada is cleared to return.

  • Jake Burger 1B | TEX

White Sox's Jake Burger: Gets breather Saturday

Burger isn't starting Saturday's game against Tampa Bay, Vinnie Duber of NBC Sports Chicago reports.

Burger had started in each of the last three games, and he went 5-for-10 with a homer, four RBI, two runs and three strikeouts. Josh Harrison will return to the lineup at third base while Leury Garcia starts at the keystone.

  • Eugenio Suarez DH | CIN

Mariners' Eugenio Suarez: Smacks second home run

Suarez went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run, an additional RBI, a run and a walk in Friday's 11-1 victory over the Astros.

Suarez contributed an RBI groundout in the fifth inning, walked and scored in the seventh and launched a three-run home run off Houston reliever Ronel Blanco in the eighth. Though the 30-year-old is batting just .192 through 26 at-bats, four of his five hits have gone for extra-bases, leading to an .800 OPS.

  • Nolan Arenado 3B | ARI

Cardinals' Nolan Arenado: Homers, reaches four times

Arenado went 2-for-3 with a homer, two walks, three RBI and two runs scored in a 10-1 win Friday in Milwaukee.

Arenado has been on an absolute tear to start 2022, hitting safely in every game and having multiple RBI in all but one appearance. The six-time All-Star walked and scored in the first, had an RBI single in the second, and capped off the night with a two-run homer in the ninth. He now has seven extra-base hits, 12 RBI and an amazing 1.087 SLG on the young season.

  • Red Sox's Rafael Devers: Hits two-run homer

Devers went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer in Friday's loss to Minnesota.

Devers brought the Red Sox to within two in the bottom of the eighth with his shot off Jhoan Duran, but they would fail to add any more runs. The performance continued a hot start to Devers' 2022 campaign, as he's now hitting .367/.387/.667 with two homers and seven RBI through his first seven games.

  • Jake Burger 1B | TEX

White Sox's Jake Burger: Goes yard Friday

Burger went 2-for-3 with a homer and two RBI in Friday's 3-2 win over the Rays.

Burger hammered a 430-foot solo shot off Drew Rasmussen in the third inning and then tagged him with an RBI single in the fifth. The 26-year-old is batting .375 with two extra-base hits through 16 at-bats so far this season. He should continue seeing somewhat regular action at least until Yoan Moncada (oblique) returns from the injured list.

  • Nick Senzel 3B | LAD

Reds' Nick Senzel: Out with illness

Senzel's absence from the Reds' last three lineups was due to illness, but he'll be available off the bench Friday, Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

The Reds insisted Senzel wasn't injured despite the fact that his absences came immediately after an outfield collision with Tommy Pham on Tuesday, and it appears as though that's accurate. The fact that Senzel is sick rather than injured is seemingly good news, as he's dealt with more than his fair share of injuries in recent years. The Reds haven't said when he'll be back in the lineup, but the fact that he's available off the bench Friday likely means he'll be ready to go soon.
