Hayes went 1-for-5 with a stolen base in Friday's 8-6 loss to Philadelphia.

The third baseman has been solid in September, going 22-for-71 (.310) across 16 games. Hayes has slashed a modest .259/.319/.375 with six home runs, nine steals, 36 RBI and 48 runs scored through 386 plate appearances overall.

Kieboom was scratched from Friday's lineup against the Reds due to a left forearm injury, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

Kieboom was removed from Friday's lineup shortly before the start of the contest, and he didn't appear off the bench in the loss. Manager Dave Martinez revealed after the game that the third baseman is dealing with a forearm injury after being hit by a pitch earlier in the week, and he'll undergo an MRI on Saturday to determine the extent of the issue.

Sosa (wrist) isn't starting the second game of Friday's doubleheader against the Cubs, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports.

Sosa was removed from Friday's matinee after he was hit in the wrist by a pitch, but initial scans revealed no fracture. Paul DeJong will start at shortstop and bat eighth in the nightcap.

Duffy will sit for the second game of Friday's doubleheader against the Cardinals.

Duffy went 1-for-3 with a walk and a run scored as the Cubs lost the first contest of the day. Patrick Wisdom moves in from left field to play third base in the nightcap, with Sergio Alcantara starting at second.

Kieboom was scratched from Friday's lineup against the Reds for an undisclosed reason.

Kieboom was back in the lineup in each of the last two games after a one-game absence due to a jammed thumb last week, and he went 1-for-9 with two strikeouts across those two appearances. It's not clear whether Friday's removal from the lineup is due to an injury, but Jordy Mercer will take his place at the hot corner and bat seventh.

Sosa escaped without a fracture after getting hit in the wrist by a pitch Friday, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

Sosa was clearly worried about a serious injury, as he immediately ran down the tunnel for treatment. Initial scans indicate he's avoided a fracture, so he should be able to return within three-to-five days.

McMahon is not starting Friday against the Giants, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.

McMahon drew a rare start against a left-hander last week, but he'll retreat to the bench against southpaw Alex Wood on Friday. Colton Welker will man the hot corner and bat eighth.

Sosa immediately ran off down the tunnel, which seemingly indicates he thought he was dealing with a fairly serious injury. Anything more than a bruise would likely wipe out the remainder of his season. Paul DeJong entered as his replacement and would likely reclaim the starting role at shortstop should Sosa be forced to miss time.

Walls was optioned to Triple-A Durham on Friday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Walls hit .205 with no extra-base hits and two RBI after being called up at the start of September, and now he loses his roster spot as Wander Franco (hamstring) returns from the injured list. Barring other injuries on the big-league roster, it's unlikely Walls gets called up again this year, and a spot on Tampa Bay's ALDS roster seems similarly unrealistic.

Arenado (back) went 0-for-3 with a walk and a run in a win over the Brewers on Thursday.

Arenado was able to start and play the full game at third base after exiting Wednesday's contest with lower-back tightness. The veteran slugger's bat did cool off, however, as he'd gone 6-for-13 over his previous four games.
