  • Mike Moustakas 3B | CHW

Reds' Mike Moustakas: Takes seat Saturday

Moustakas is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Marlins.

Moustakas is in the midst of an 0-for-23 skid and has hit a lowly .111 in 12 games since returning from injury. Eugenio Suarez is starting at third base Saturday, and he figures to receive more playing time until Moustakas gets his bat going.

  • Padres' Manny Machado: Crushes homer in loss

Machado went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run in Friday's loss to the Phillies.

The third-inning two-run blast was the highlight of an otherwise frustrating night for Machado, who also struck out twice and was ejected after arguing with home plate umpire Doug Eddings in the bottom of the eighth. After going deep eight times in 25 contests during July, Machado has hit only two homers across 17 games amidst the Padres' struggles in August. He is hitting only .229 and has registered a 3:17 BB:K over the course of the month.

  • Evan Longoria 3B | ARI

Giants' Evan Longoria: Out again Saturday

Longoria (hand) is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Athletics, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

It will be Longoria's third consecutive omission from San Francisco's lineup as he battles through hand soreness. He should still be considered day-to-day, with an update on his condition likely coming at some point Saturday. Wilmer Flores is playing third base and batting sixth.

  • Matt Chapman 3B | SF

Athletics' Matt Chapman: Not in Saturday's lineup

Chapman isn't starting Saturday agains the Giants, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

Chapman has displayed plenty of power recently, going 9-for-24 with five homers and six runs across the last seven games. However, he'll get a rare day off Saturday with Josh Harrison shifting to the hot corner while Tony Kemp starts at second base.

  • Alex Bregman 3B | CHC

    Astros' Alex Bregman: Nearing return

Bregman (hamstring) is expected to be reinstated from the 10-day injured list as early as Sunday or Monday, Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports.

Although Bregman isn't starting Saturday's game against Seattle, manager Dusty Baker revealed that the third baseman has rejoined the team at Minute Maid Park, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports. The 27-year-old has been sidelined since mid-June but went 2-for-4 with a home run and four RBI in his most recent rehab game at Triple-A Round Rock.

  • Alex Bregman 3B | CHC

Astros' Alex Bregman: Goes off in rehab outing

Bregman (quadriceps) went 2-for-4 with a home run and four RBI for Triple-A Sugar Land on Friday.

Bregman started at third base and played seven innings as planned for the first game of his second rehab assignment. That's part of the team's gradual plan to reintroduce the third baseman to game action, per Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle. Astros manager Dusty Baker has not divulged a projected number of games or plate appearances Bregman needs before rejoining Houston. While Bregman's away from the Astros, Aledmys Diaz is the primary fill-in at third base.

  • Jose Ramirez 3B | CLE

Indians' Jose Ramirez: Flashes skills in win

Ramirez went 2-for-4 with a walk, a solo home run, a second run scored and a stolen base in Friday's 9-1 win over the Angels.

The 28-year-old has hit safely in seven straight games, batting .344 (11-for-32) over that stretch as he tries to push Cleveland into the wild-card picture. On the season, Ramirez is slashing .257/.341/.543 with 28 homers, 15 steals, 76 RBI and 79 runs through 111 contests.

  • Yoan Moncada 3B | LAA

White Sox's Yoan Moncada: Belts 11th homer

Moncada went 1-for-3 with a walk and a two-run home run in Friday's 7-5 extra-innings win over the Rays.

He took Michael Wacha deep in the fifth inning to extend his hitting streak to seven games. Moncada's huge 2019 campaign is increasingly looking like an outlier, and the 26-year-old is batting only .255 with 11 homers, 51 RBI and 56 runs through 111 games this season. On the bright side, his .371 OBP would be a career high.

  • Josh Donaldson 3B | MIL

Twins' Josh Donaldson: Swats two-run homer

Donaldson went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Friday's 10-2 loss to the Yankees.

  • Patrick Wisdom 3B | SEA

Cubs' Patrick Wisdom: Hits solo home run

Wisdom went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and a strikeout in Friday's 6-2 loss to the Royals.

Wisdom returned to the lineup Friday after Wednesday's day off, and he put the Cubs on the board with his solo homer in the second inning. The 29-year-old now has 19 home runs in 2021 but has been in a slump recently, as he's hit just .167 with two homers, three RBI and 14 strikeouts across the last eight games.
