  • Mike Moustakas 3B | CHW

Reds' Mike Moustakas: Sidelined for another game

Moustakas (heel) remains out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Giants.

He'll take a seat for the fourth straight game while he manages a heel injury. Moustakas was able to make an appearance off the bench as a pinch hitter in Monday's 6-3 loss, a sign that the Reds anticipate he won't require a stint on the injured list.

  • Padres' Manny Machado: Launches two-run shot

Machado went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and a double in Monday's win over the Rockies.

Machado blasted his sixth homer of the season in the first inning, and he has connected for three of his six long balls during the current month. The star third baseman has hit safely in three of his last four contests while recording six RBI and three runs scored in that four-game span.

  • Anthony Rendon 3B | LAA

Angels' Anthony Rendon: Collects three hits

Rendon went 3-for-4 with an RBI in Monday's 7-4 win over Cleveland.

Rendon entered Monday's game in a 1-for-11 skid since he was activated off the injured list but knocked three singles against Cleveland. He raised his season slash line to .274/.349/.425 with 12 RBI through 83 plate appearances. It was his first multi-hit game since May 1.

  • Josh Donaldson 3B | MIL

Twins' Josh Donaldson: Smacks fifth homer

Donaldson went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in Monday's 16-4 loss to the White Sox.

The Twins were already down 14-1 when Donaldson took Dallas Keuchel deep in the sixth inning. The veteran third baseman is one of the few Minnesota players performing up to expectations so far this season, hitting .274 with five homers and 16 RBI through 28 games.

  • Nick Madrigal 2B | LAA

White Sox's Nick Madrigal: Pops first career homer

Madrigal went 3-for-5 with a walk, a double, a home run, two RBI and three runs scored in Monday's 16-4 rout of the Twins.

He took J.A. Happ deep in the third inning, giving the light-hitting second baseman the first homer of his career. Madrigal came into Monday mired in a miserable May, slashing .200/.200/.220 through 12 games, but this performance could signal the start of a hot streak.

  • Austin Riley 3B | ATL

Braves' Austin Riley: Provides only offense

Riley went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Monday's 3-1 loss to the Mets.

Riley gave his team a spark in the eighth inning with a solo home run to right, but it would be the only run Atlanta would muster all night. His homer Monday marked his first since April 28 and his fourth on the season through 41 games.

  • Padres' Ivan Castillo: Optioned to minors

Castillo was optioned to Triple-A El Paso on Monday.

Castillo was called up a few days earlier to help fill in for Jurickson Profar (COVID-19), but he'll head back down to the minors following Profar's activation. Castillo went 1-for-3 with an RBI and a walk during his brief three-game stint with the Padres.

  • Tigers' Jeimer Candelario: Returns to lineup

Candelario (knee) will bat third and play third base Monday against the Mariners, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.

Candelario left Saturday's game against the Cubs after getting hit in the knee by a pitch. He didn't play in Sunday's contest but is ready to go again following a day off.

  • Evan Longoria 3B | ARI

Giants' Evan Longoria: Not starting Monday

Longoria isn't in the lineup Monday against the Reds, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Longoria went 1-for-13 with a run, a walk and five strikeouts in his last three games. Wilmer Flores will start at third base while Mauricio Dubon starts at the keystone.

  • Pirates' Ildemaro Vargas: Claimed by Pirates

Vargas was claimed off waivers by the Pirates on Monday.

Vargas was designated for assignment by the Cubs on Saturday, and he'll remain in the NL Central going forward. The 29-year-old served as a depth option for Chicago this year, and he should serve in a depth role for the Pirates after Troy Stokes was designated for assignment in a corresponding move.
