Escobar isn't starting the second game of Friday's doubleheader against the Rockies.

Escobar drove in a run during the Diamondbacks' 4-0 win in the first game of the twin bill, but he'll play a bench role for Game 2. Wyatt Mathisen will start at third base.

Urias went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 10-5 loss to the Blue Jays.

His fifth-inning shot got the O's on the board, but unfortunately they were already down 10-0 at that point. It was Urias' first homer in the majors, and the 26-year-old has had an impressive start to his big-league career, going 8-for-21 (.381) through nine games.

Donaldson left Friday's game against the Reds at the beginning of the second inning with a right calf cramp, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

Donaldson was replaced defensively by Ehire Adrianza to begin the second inning, and his initial diagnosis revealed a right calf issue. The third baseman missed all of August with right calf tightness. He's currently considered day-to-day but could be replaced by Adrianza or Marwin Gonzalez if he misses additional time.

It's not clear what injury Donaldson could be dealing with, but he was replaced by Ehire Adrianza at third base to begin the second inning. Whether Donaldson misses additional time remains to be seen.

Peterson remains out of the lineup for Game 2 of Friday's doubleheader against the Cardinals.

Peterson wasn't in the lineup for Friday's matinee, and he'll retreat to the bench once again for Game 2 of the twin bill. Ryan Braun will remain in right field with Daniel Vogelbach serving as the designated hitter.

Wisdom's contract was selected by the Cubs on Friday, Gordon Wittenmyer of NBC Sports Chicago reports.

Wisdom will give the Cubs an extra bench bat for the final series of the season, though there's little reason to believe he'll be a particularly strong one. The 29-year-old has made just 86 career major-league plate appearances, posting a .224/.306/.408 slash line. Jose Martinez was optioned in a corresponding move.

Candelario landed on the 10-day injured list with a lower-back strain Friday.

The injury which forced Candelario to exit Thursday's game will wind up ending his season prematurely. It was quite an encouraging season from him at the plate, as he hit .297/.369/.503 in 206 plate appearances. Harold Castro will be the first baseman and cleanup hitter Friday against the Royals.

Devers is not in the lineup Friday against Atlanta.

The Red Sox haven't been in the playoff race for quite some time, so they have little reason to play their best players every day. Devers sits for this contest, though there haven't been reports that he's injured, so he'll presumably return Saturday.

Riley (quadriceps) is starting at first base and batting sixth Friday against the Red Sox.

The 23-year-old sat out Thursday's lineup as a precaution due to quadriceps tightness, but he's back in action for Friday's series opener. Riley has struggled through September with a .238/.304/.357 slash line in 21 games.

Peterson is out of the lineup for Game 1 of Friday's doubleheader against the Cardinals.

Peterson received four straight starts before taking a seat Thursday and now finds himself on the bench again for Friday's matinee. Ryan Braun starts in right field while Daniel Vogelbach serves as the designated hitter.
