  • Rays' Christopher Morel: Heading to Tampa Bay

The Rays acquired Morel and prospects Hunter Bigge and Ty Johnson in exchange for Isaac Paredes on Sunday, Sahadev Sharma of The Athletic reports.

Morel went 0-for-1 in Sunday's game at Kansas City before being pulled due to the trade. The 25-year-old has a .199/.302/.373 slash line with 18 homers and a 47:102 BB:K in 421 plate appearances this season. Morel's role in Tampa Bay should be similar to the one he had in Chicago, splitting time between third base and designated hitter.

  • Isaac Paredes 3B | HOU

Cubs' Isaac Paredes: Dealt to North Siders

The Cubs acquired Paredes from the Rays on Sunday in exchange for third baseman Christopher Morel and right-handers Hunter Bigge and Ty Johnson, Sahadev Sharma of The Athletic reports.

Tampa Bay continues to move key parts ahead of Tuesday's deadline, with Paredes joining Randy Arozarena, Zach Eflin, Jason Adam and Aaron Civale as major departures via trade. The Cubs were thought to be deadline buyers, but Paredes isn't a rental player, as he comes with three years of team control after 2024. He has a 245/.357/.435 slash line with 16 home runs and 55 RBI through 101 games this season and should take over the starting job at third base in Chicago.

  • Jose Miranda 3B | MIN

Twins' Jose Miranda: Departs after scary HBP

Miranda exited Sunday's game against the Tigers after being hit by a pitch in the head, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.

The pitch appeared to hit Miranda in the ear flap of his helmet, and he was able to leave the field under his own power after a couple minutes. The 26-year-old will likely go through concussion testing and should be considered day-to-day as he continues to be evaluated.

  • Trey Lipscomb 3B | WAS

Nationals' Trey Lipscomb: Out of Sunday's lineup

Lipscomb is not in the lineup for Sunday's game at St. Louis.

Lipscomb started the first two games of the series but will sit for Sunday's finale while in the midst of a 3-for-25 slump. Ildemaro Vargas will man the hot corner and bat seventh for Washington.

  • Josh Rojas 3B | CHW

Mariners' Josh Rojas: On bench vs. lefty

Rojas is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the White Sox, Shannon Drayer of SeattleSports.com reports.

Rojas went 2-for-8 with two walks, a double and a three-run homer in the first two games of the series, but he'll take a seat for the finale with southpaw Garrett Crochet pitching for Chicago. Dylan Moore will shift to third base while Leo Rivas receives a start at shortstop.

  • Josh Jung 3B | TEX

Rangers' Josh Jung: Resumes rehab assignment

Texas manager Bruce Bochy said Saturday that Jung (wrist) is "doing great" after playing rehab games for Double-A Frisco on Friday and Saturday, MLB.com reports.

Jung, who had his original rehab assignment paused in June, restarted it over the weekend, going 2-for-7 in the two games. The Rangers will evaluate the injured third baseman Monday, at which point the club will determine next steps. Options include having Jung play another rehab series in Triple-A or clearing the way for his return to the major-league club.

  • Jose Ramirez 3B | CLE

Guardians' Jose Ramirez: Notches steal in loss

Ramirez went 1-for-3 with a stolen base in Saturday's 8-0 loss to the Phillies.

Ramirez had gone 13 games without a steal, and he hit a meager .235 with four extra-base hits in that span. The third baseman's rough July has taken a a bit of a bite out of his overall numbers. He's now at a .270/.324/.509 slash line with 24 home runs, 19 steals, 82 RBI, 72 runs scored, 22 doubles and one triple through 101 contests.

  • Alec Bohm 3B | PHI

    Phillies' Alec Bohm: Playing Sunday

Bohm is starting at third base and batting in the cleanup spot for Sunday's contest against Cleveland.

Bohm left in the seventh inning of Saturday's 8-0 win over the Guardians due to a left ankle contusion. The issue doesn't appear serious enough to sideline him for the series finale, and he will face off against Cleveland southpaw Joey Cantillo.

  • Royce Lewis 3B | MIN

Twins' Royce Lewis: Taking seat Sunday

Lewis is out of the lineup for Sunday's game at Detroit.

Lewis has gone 3-for-9 with a double and a homer in two games since being reinstated from the injured list Friday, and he'll receive a breather for Sunday's series finale. The 25-year-old has played in just 26 contests this year due to injuries, and manager Rocco Baldelli may attempt to keep him fresh with regular days off down the stretch. Jose Miranda will handle the hot corner Sunday while Ryan Jeffers rests his legs as the designated hitter.

  • Gio Urshela 3B | MIN

Tigers' Gio Urshela: Out of lineup Sunday

Urshela is absent from the starting lineup for Sunday's series finale against the Twins, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

Urshela went 1-for-8 with three strikeouts over the first two games of the series, and he will begin Sunday's contest in the dugout. Zach McKinstry will start at third base and bat seventh against Minnesota right-hander Bailey Ober.
