  • Nationals' Ildemaro Vargas: Not starting Game 1

Vargas is out of the lineup for Game 1 of Sunday's doubleheader versus Atlanta, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

Vargas has an .821 OPS through 14 games in September and will take a seat for Sunday's matinee. Carter Kieboom is starting at the hot corner and batting seventh.

  • Ryan McMahon 3B | NYY

Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Sitting against lefty

McMahon isn't in the Rockies' lineup Sunday against the Cubs, Patrick Lyons of TheDNVR.com reports.

With lefty Jordan Wicks starting on the mound for Chicago, the lefty-hitting McMahon will take a seat to begin Sunday's game. Alan Trejo will cover third base and bat seventh in McMahon's absence.

  • Austin Riley 3B | ATL

Braves' Austin Riley: Sitting for Game 1

Riley is out of the lineup for Game 1 of Sunday's doubleheader at Washington, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.

The 26-year-old started the past 14 games after sitting out a couple contests due to an illness in early September, and he'll take a seat for Sunday's matinee after he posted a 1.017 OPS with three homers, 11 RBI and 10 runs during that 14-game stretch. Luke Williams will handle the hot corner in Game 1 with Riley likely to be back in the starting nine for the nightcap.

  • Yoan Moncada 3B | LAA

White Sox's Yoan Moncada: Not starting Sunday

Moncada is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Red Sox.

Moncada started the past five games and will receive a day off after he posted a .786 OPS and 42.9 percent strikeout rate in that stretch. Lenyn Sosa will handle the hot corner and bat seventh for Sunday's series finale in Boston.

  • Royals' Maikel Garcia: Gets breather Sunday

Garcia isn't starting Sunday against the Astros.

Garcia will get a day off after going 7-for-22 with three runs scored over the Royals' last five games. Matt Duffy will take over at the hot corner and bat seventh while Garcia rests.

  • Noelvi Marte 3B | CIN

Reds' Noelvi Marte: Not in Sunday's lineup

Marte is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Pirates.

Marte started the past three games and will receive a day off after going 3-for-13 with an RBI during that span. Christian Encarnacion-Strand will start at third base and bat fifth.

  • Zach McKinstry 3B | DET

Tigers' Zach McKinstry: Scores lone run Saturday

McKinstry went 2-for-5 with a double and a run scored in Saturday's 4-1 loss to the Athletics.

McKinstry was the only Detroit player with multiple hits, and he had one of only two extra-base knocks for the team. The utility player often serves in a leadoff role, which he did Saturday, but the Tigers can struggle to put together much offense, as they're 29th in the majors in runs scored. That limits the upside of McKinstry and other Detroit hitters in run-producing spots.

  • Jared Triolo 3B | PIT

Pirates' Jared Triolo: Racks up four hits in victory

Triolo went 4-for-5 with a double and three runs in Saturday's 13-12 win against the Reds.

Triolo was a key contributor in the Pirates' comeback from a 9-0 deficit, as he notched a hit and scored a run in each of the sixth, seventh and eighth frames. The rookie infielder finished with the first four-hit game of his career and logged his fourth multi-hit performance over his past six contests. Over that span, he's batting .579 (11-for-19) with two homers, three doubles, three RBI and nine runs scored.

  • Orioles' Gunnar Henderson: Reaches 10-steal mark

Henderson went 1-for-4 with a walk, a stolen base and one run scored in Saturday's 2-1 win over the Guardians.

The steal was Henderson's 10th of the season, and his first since he swiped two bags Aug. 28 versus the White Sox. The infielder continues to impress in September, batting .297 (30-for-101) with 15 extra-base hits over 22 contests this month. He's up to a .260/.329/.496 slash line with 27 home runs, 81 RBI, 98 runs scored, 28 doubles and nine triples through 143 games. Henderson continues to be a strong fit atop the Orioles' lineup and is a strong candidate to win AL Rookie of the Year.

  • Royals' Maikel Garcia: Swipes bag in win

Garcia went 2-for-4 with a stolen base and a run scored in Saturday's 3-2 win over the Astros.

Garcia has gotten going again at the plate, going 12-for-39 (.308) over his last 10 games while adding three steals in that span. The third baseman is up to 23 thefts in 29 attempts this season while primarily hitting out of the leadoff spot. He's at a .275/.325/.365 slash line with 49 RBI, 56 runs scored and four home runs through 118 contests overall.
