Brewers' Brian Anderson: Sitting out Wednesday

Anderson is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rockies.

  • Josh Jung 3B | TEX

Rangers' Josh Jung: Two homers in loss

Jung went 3-for-5 with two home runs and three RBI during Wednesday's 12-7 loss to the Diamondbacks.

Jung has showcased his power early this season and has an .866 OPS with eight home runs and 24 RBI through 28 games, but he remains susceptible to punchouts with a 32.5 percent strikeout rate.

The Astros were held without a run until Bregman's two-run shot off Logan Webb with two outs in the eighth inning. The 29-year-old Bregman had been struggling prior to Wednesday's contest, going just 2-for-25 with a .287 OPS in his last seven games. There's no set day yet, but Grifol noted that Moncada got his uniform dirty while participating in drills Wednesday in Chicago. The third baseman landed on the injured list April 11 due to lower-back soreness and was later diagnosed with a disc issue. Jake Burger continues to draw everyday starts at the hot corner for the White Sox.

  • Isaac Paredes 3B | HOU

Rays' Isaac Paredes: Gets rest Wednesday

Paredes is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Pirates, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

  • Orioles' Gunnar Henderson: Getting breather Wednesday

Henderson is not in the Orioles' lineup for Wednesday's game in Kansas City, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Henderson drew three walks in Tuesday's 11-7 win but went hitless again. It's been a struggle for the rookie infielder, who sits on a lowly .663 OPS through 97 plate appearances this season. He'll get a chance to rest up Wednesday while Ramon Urias fills in for him at third base.

  • Nationals' Ildemaro Vargas: Returns from IL

The Nationals activated Vargas (shoulder) from the 10-day injured list Wednesday, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

  • Padres' Manny Machado: Gets day off

Machado is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Reds, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Machado appears to be receiving a routine day off. The Padres will shift Ha-Seong Kim over to third base and give Rougned Odor a start at second base while Machado sits.

  • Nick Maton DH | CHW

Tigers' Nick Maton: On bench for Game 1 of twin bill

Maton is out of the lineup for the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader with the Mets.

With a lefty (Joey Lucchesi) taking the hill for the Mets in the opening game of the twin bill, the lefty-hitting Maton will head to the bench while Zack Short spells him at third base. Expect Maton to re-enter the lineup for Game 2 with right-hander Max Scherzer on the bump for the Mets.
