Alex Bregman 3B | CHC
Astros' Alex Bregman: Reaches four times in win
Bregman went 2-for-2 with a homer, three RBI and two walks in a 7-3 win over Texas on Thursday.
After walking in his first two plate appearances, Bregman skied a two-run homer to left in the fifth inning off Cole Ragans, ending the rookie's outing. The third baseman added an RBI single in the seventh. In August, Bregman has hit safely in all but one game and has a .400/.500/.533 line with a 7:3 B:KK in 38 plate appearances. For the season, he has a .362 OBP and is one of eight qualified batters with more walks than strikeouts.

Kevin Newman 3B | LAA
Pirates' Kevin Newman: Day off Thursday
Newman is not in the starting lineup Thursday versus the Diamondbacks.
Newman will get a breather after he went 3-for-10 with a run scored and a stolen base in the first two games of the series. Tucupita Marcano will slide over to second base while Greg Allen enters the lineup in left field and bats seventh in the series finale.

J.D. Davis 1B | LAA
Giants' J.D. Davis: Productive in Wednesday's loss
Davis went 3-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional run scored in Wednesday's 13-7 loss to the Padres.
Davis flexed some opposite-field power with his second-inning blast to right. The 29-year-old has gone 8-for-24 (.333) with three homers in seven contests for the Giants since he was acquired from the Mets last week. For the season, he owns a .249/.330/.400 slash line with seven long balls, 25 RBI, 30 runs scored and a stolen base through 233 plate appearances. As long as he continues to hit well, Davis should maintain steady playing time, especially against southpaws, and he'll likely get some games versus right-handers too.

Rodolfo Castro 2B | PHI
Pirates' Rodolfo Castro: First hit since return
Castro went 2-for-4 with a triple and a run scored Wednesday against the Diamondbacks.
Castro was recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis on Tuesday and has started both games at second base since. On Wednesday, he tallied a two-out triple in the sixth inning and ultimately came around to score on a double by Greg Allen. Castro has hit only .205/.279/.321 across 86 plate appearances in the majors this season, though it seems as if the Pirates are interested in finding him consistent playing time across the final two months.

Jeimer Candelario 3B | LAA
Tigers' Jeimer Candelario: Sitting Thursday
Candelario is not in the starting lineup Thursday versus the Guardians, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Candelario will take a seat after he went 4-for-21 with two runs scored and an RBI while starting the last six games. Willi Castro will draw the start at the hot corner and bat fifth in the series finale.

Kevin Newman 3B | LAA
Pirates' Kevin Newman: Racks up three hits, steals base
Newman went 3-for-5 with a stolen base and a run in a 6-4 win against Arizona on Wednesday.
Newman was a catalyst atop the team's batting order, rapping three singles and scoring a run. He had been struggling coming into the contest, going 4-for-30 over his first seven games in August. Newman's hits tend to come in bunches -- he has nine multi-hit performances over 40 games this season but is batting a modest .269 overall.

Nolan Arenado 3B | ARI
Cardinals' Nolan Arenado: Knocks three hits, including homer
Arenado went 3-for-5 with a home run, a double, two total runs and two total RBI in a 9-5 victory against Colorado on Wednesday.
Arenado got the scoring started for St. Louis with a first-inning, run-scoring double. He plated another run in the sixth with a solo homer to left field. Arenado has hit safely in eight straight games and is batting .467 (14-for-30) with four homers and 11 RBI over that stretch.

Max Muncy 3B | LAD
Dodgers' Max Muncy: Exits with hand injury
Muncy left Wednesday's win over Minnesota in the fifth inning after a ground ball hit him in the hand. X-rays after the game were negative, Matthew Moreno of DodgerBlue.com reports.
Muncy went 1-for-2 with a home run before departing. It doesn't sound like a serious injury, but he may need to sit out a game or two.

Eguy Rosario 3B | SD
Padres' Eguy Rosario: Epic hot streak continues
Rosario has gone 21-for-44 (.477) with four homers, three steals, 13 RBI and 16 runs in his last 11 games for Triple-A El Paso.
These are only the latest in a lengthy series of exploits for Rosario, who's racked up an eye-popping .373/.452/.741 batting line across the last 49 games, lifting his season line to .299/.385/.529 with 18 homers and 18 steals. Rosario's development this season has been nothing short of remarkable, but it's hard to see the competing Padres finding many reps for him at the big-league level this season.

Gio Urshela 3B | MIN
Twins' Gio Urshela: Out of Wednesday's lineup
Urshela is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Dodgers.
Urshela rejoined the lineup for the past two games after missing a couple days with an ankle injury, and he'll return to the bench after going 2-for-9 with a triple and a run scored. Jose Miranda will shift to the hot corner while Tim Beckham serves as the designated hitter.
