Bregman went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run during Saturday's 5-2 win over the Phillies in Game 2 of the World Series.

Bregman extended the Houston lead to 5-0 with a 405-foot blast off Zack Wheeler in the fifth inning, his third homer of the postseason and second extra-base hit of the World Series. The 28-year-old third baseman extended his postseason hitting streak to five games, and he is now hitting .316 with nine RBI. Bregman is slated to face Noah Syndergaard in Game 3 -- he has two career at bats against Syndergaard and is 1-for-2 with an RBI single.

Arenado elected to opt into the remaining five years of his contract with the Cardinals on Saturday, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports.

Arenado had the option to test the market heading into his age-32 season, but he evidently felt as though he wasn't going to do better than the five years and $144 million he has remaining on his current deal. He's coming off a season in which he hit .293/.358/.533 (good for a career-best 151 wRC+) while playing excellent defense, but his age may have made it tough to beat an already lofty salary. The decision is largely a hit to Arenado's long-term fantasy value, as it keeps him in one of the league's more pitcher-friendly parks for the foreseeable future, though he'll at least remain a part of a solid lineup that's helped him eclipse 100 RBI in back-to-back seasons.

Maton was added to the Phillies' roster on Friday ahead of the World Series, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.

Maton was on the roster for the wild-card round but never saw the field, and he was left off the roster for the NLDS and NLCS. The 25-year-old is unlikely to see much action and will provide depth as a utility option during the World Series.

Machado went 2-for-4 with a solo home run during Saturday's 10-6 loss to the Phillies in Game 4 of the NLCS.

Machado hit a 100-mph line drive off Phillies starter Bailey Falter that reached the left field bleachers to give the Padres a 1-0 lead in the first inning of Game 4. Machado has now homered in two of the past three games, and he has reached four postseason homers for the first time in his career. The 30-year-old righty also continued his streak of multi-hit performances following hitless games, which he has now accomplished in seven straight instances. Machado is slated to face starter Zack Wheeler in a must-win Game 5 -- he is 2-for-11 with two singles against Wheeler in his career.

Bregman went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run Thursday night during Game 2 of the ALCS in the 3-2 win over the Yankees.

Bregman knocked in all three of the Houston runs for Game 2 with a 360-foot blast off Luis Severino in the third inning. After a hitless performance in Game 1, the 28-year-old third baseman bounced back with his second multi-hit showing and second homer of the postseason. Bregman is no stranger to postseason home runs -- Thursday's blast marked the 14th of his career and he is now 7-for-22 with six RBI in the 2022 playoffs.

Machado went 3-for-5 with a solo home run and a double during Wednesday's 8-5 win over the Phillies in Game 2 of the NLCS.

Machado's solo shot in the eighth inning off David Robertson gave the Padres a four-run cushion, and they ultimately held on to even the NLCS at 1-1. This game marked Machado's fourth multi-hit performance of the postseason, bringing his average up to .306 across 36 plate appearances. Machado has demonstrated an unbelievable ability to bounce back from poor showings. The last six times the star third baseman has gone hitless, he has followed up with a multi-hit performance.

Ramirez is scheduled to undergo surgery on his right hand in the coming weeks after the Guardians lost to the Yankees in Game 5 of the ALDS on Tuesday, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports.

Ramirez suffered the injury in mid-June and missed two games, but he opted to play through the issue rather than immediately go under the knife and miss a chunk of the season. The 30-year-old was putting together a potential MVP campaign with a 1.039 OPS and 16 homers in 60 games prior to the injury, and he had a .766 OPS the rest of the way while playing through the pain. Ramirez is expected to be fully recovered for spring training in February, per Mark Feinsand of MLB.com.

The Yankees didn't include LeMahieu (toe) on their American League Championship Series roster ahead of the team's Game 1 matchup with the Astros on Wednesday.

After taking live batting practice Tuesday, LeMahieu was hopeful to return to action for the ALCS, but the Yankees instead decided to include rookie Oswald Peraza on the roster to fill out their infield ranks. LeMahieu, who missed all five games of the American League Division Series victory over the Guardians, will likely continue to ramp up his activities in the days to come as he works to prove to the Yankees that he's made enough progress in his recovery from the right toe injury to contribute during the World Series, should New York advance.

LeMahieu (toe) will travel with the Yankees to Cleveland, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

LeMahieu is dealing with a ligament injury to his right second toe and will join the Yankees in Cleveland in hopes of being ready to go for the ALCS if they advance. The 34-year-old is not nursing a fractured foot as had been previously reported, making it more likely that he can return at some point this postseason.

Peraza will not be a member of the Yankees' ALDS roster.

Peraza got his first taste of the majors this season and hit .306/.404/.429 in 18 games. There's no spot available for the rookie on the postseason roster, however, even with DJ LeMahieu unavailable with a foot fracture. Instead, Marwin Gonzalez and Tim Locastro will earn bench spots.
