    Phillies' Nick Maton: Removed from injured list

    Maton (shoulder) was activated from the injured list and optioned to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Tuesday.

    After completing a lengthy rehab assignment, Maton is ready to resume playing on a regular basis. He will not immediately rejoin the Phillies, though, and will instead continue playing with Lehigh Valley for the time being.

    Cardinals' Nolan Arenado: Placed on restricted list

    Arenado (personal) was placed on the restricted list Tuesday, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

    Arenado is one of three Cardinals on the 26-man active roster who won't be eligible to play in the two-game series in Toronto due to his vaccination status. He will be reinstated Friday when the team returns to the U.S. and faces the Nationals on the road. Conner Capel was called up from Triple-A Memphis to replace Arenado on the active roster for the time being.

    Pirates' Ke'Bryan Hayes: Keeps collecting hits

    Hayes went 2-for-4 in Monday's loss to the Cubs.

    Hayes has at least one hit in 11 of his last 12 starts, good for a .292 average across 53 plate appearances. He's chipped in two steals over that span but otherwise has tallied just three RBI and four runs scored. For the season, Hayes is hitting .251/.324/.351 across 377 plate appearances.

  • Tigers' Jeimer Candelario: Goes deep twice

    Candelario went 3-for-4 with two home runs and three RBI in Monday's 12-4 win over San Diego.

    Candelario knocked a solo shot off of Sean Manaea in the fourth inning followed by a two-run homer against MacKenzie Gore in the fifth. He's gone deep four times over his last 11 appearances after snapping a 20-game homerless drought. The 28-year-old is slashing .203/.269/.352 with nine home runs and 30 runs scored on the year.

    Giants' Evan Longoria: Dealing with Grade 1 strain

    Longoria has been diagnosed with a Grade 1 hamstring strain, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

    Longoria is expected to miss the next few weeks following this diagnosis, according to John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle. David Villar will fill in at the hot corner until Longoria is able to return.

    Pirates' Kevin Newman: Takes seat Monday

    Newman isn't starting Monday against the Cubs.

    Newman started the last three games and went 1-for-11 with a double, a run, two walks and three strikeouts. Josh VanMeter is shifting to the keystone while Michael Chavis starts at first base.

    Athletics' Jonah Bride: Reinstated from injured list

    Bride (shoulder) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list Monday.

    Bride spent nearly a month on the injured list due to his shoulder injury, but he'll rejoin the active roster after spending a week and a half in the minors on a rehab assignment. He hit .318 with a homer, a double, four runs and three RBI over seven rehab games and should see plenty of playing time at third base now that he's back to full health. However, he isn't starting Monday against the Astros.

    Phillies' Jean Segura: Starting up rehab Tuesday

    Phillies interim manager Rob Thomson said Segura (finger) will begin a rehab assignment Tuesday with Triple-A Lehigh Valley, Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

    Segura is coming along quicker than expected in his recovery from his early June surgery to repair a fractured right index finger, a procedure that was expected to keep him sidelined for 10-to-12 weeks. Though initial projections called for Segura to remain out until mid-August or early September, he now looks like he could be ready to go when first eligible to return from the 60-day injured list Aug. 2. The Phillies will wait and see how Segura looks during his rehab stint at Lehigh Valley over the next few days before re-evaluating his situation early next week.

  • Isaac Paredes 3B | HOU

    Rays' Isaac Paredes: Not starting Monday

    Paredes isn't in the lineup Monday against the Orioles, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports.

    Paredes went 0-for-4 with a strikeout during Sunday's loss to the Rays and is out of the lineup for the second time in the last three games. Ji-Man Choi is starting at first base while Luke Raley serves as the designated hitter.

  • Mike Moustakas 3B | CHW

    Reds' Mike Moustakas: Resting Monday

    Moustakas is not in the starting lineup for Monday's series opener versus the Marlins.

    Moustakas will take a seat after he went 1-for-3 with a walk and run scored in Sunday's win over the Cardinals. Jonathan India will take over at designated hitter while Donovan Solano slots in at second base and bats sixth against Miami.
