  • Orioles' Adley Rutschman: Ends lengthy homer drought

Rutschman went 2-for-6 with a double and a three-run home run in Wednesday's 8-4 extra-innings win over the Brewers.

The backstop capped the scoring on the afternoon by depositing a Tyler Alexander cutter over the left-field fence in the 11th inning. The home run was Rutschman's fifth of the season but his first off a southpaw, and it snapped a 25-game power drought for the switch hitter. While he's had a tough start to the season, Rutschman's bat may be waking up -- over his last 10 games he's batting .278 (10-for-36) with half of his hits going for extra bases (three doubles and a triple in addition to Wednesday's homer).

  • Guardians' Austin Hedges: Picking up start Wednesday

Hedges will start at catcher and bat ninth in Wednesday's game against the Twins.

Earlier in the day, top backstop Bo Naylor caught the final six innings of the Guardians' 6-5 loss, which was the resumption of a game that was initially suspended Monday in the fourth inning. Since the Guardians and Twins are essentially playing a doubleheader Wednesday, Naylor will get some rest for the second contest of the day, allowing Hedges to pick up his 16th start of the season. Hedges is batting just .143, but he'll continue to get occasional starts versus lefties and when Naylor requires rest.

  • Bo Naylor C | CLE

Guardians' Bo Naylor: Getting rest Wednesday

Naylor is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Twins.

Earlier Wednesday, the Guardians resumed their series opener with the Twins that had been suspended in the fourth inning Monday. Since Naylor caught six innings earlier in the day, he'll take a seat for the series finale, which is essentially the second game of a doubleheader. Austin Hedges will handle catching duties in Naylor's stead.

  • Edgar Quero C | CHW

White Sox's Edgar Quero: Retreating to bench Wednesday

Quero is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Mariners.

Quero will get a breather for the day game after he had started at either catcher or designated hitter in four of Chicago's last five contests. Matt Thaiss will get the nod behind the plate Wednesday while Andrew Vaughn serves as the White Sox's designated hitter.

  • Astros' Victor Caratini: Taking seat Wednesday

Caratini is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rays.

Caratini was behind the dish for the first two games of the series, but he'll get a breather for the Wednesday afternoon contest while Yainer Diaz handles the catching duties. Until Yordan Alvarez (hand) returns from the injured list, the Astros should have regular spots in the lineup available for both Diaz and Caratini at either catcher or designated hitter. Caratini had started in nine of the Astros' previous 11 games.

  • Danny Jansen C | TEX

Rays' Danny Jansen: Getting afternoon off

Jansen is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Astros.

Jansen caught both of the first two contests of the series, so he will get a breather in Wednesday's matinee. Ben Rortvedt will be behind the dish and bat ninth for the Rays.

  • Red Sox's Carlos Narvaez: Homers in win

Narvaez went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 2-0 win over the Mets.

Narvaez led off the bottom of the fifth inning with a home run into the Monster seats that turned out to be the game-winning hit. The legend of the backup catcher continues to grow. Narvaez is 16-for-37 (.432) with five extra-base hits, seven RBI and eight runs scored over the last 12 games. As important as Tuesday's home run was, Narvaez's work behind the plate was equally key. Starter Walker Buehler was ejected early for arguing balls and strikes, forcing the backstop to shepherd six different relievers through 6.2 scoreless innings.

  • Athletics' Shea Langeliers: Blasts homer in loss

Langeliers went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional run scored in Tuesday's 7-5 loss to the Angels.

Langeliers ended an eight-game stretch without a homer when he went deep in the fourth inning. The catcher is up to nine long balls this season, though he's hit just three of them over 16 games in May. He's added a .256/.320/.463 slash line, 25 RBI, 21 runs scored, three stolen bases and six doubles through 43 contests this season.

  • Angels' Logan O'Hoppe: Homers in Tuesday's win

O'Hoppe went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and an additional RBI in Tuesday's 7-5 win over the Athletics.

O'Hoppe recorded his third multi-hit effort in the last four games, a span in which he's also homered twice and added seven RBI. Prior to this strong stretch, he endured a 2-for-27 slump over his previous eight games. The catcher is up to 11 long balls, 25 RBI, 15 runs scored and a .264/.296/.500 slash line across 41 contests this season.

  • Jonah Heim C | ATL

Rangers' Jonah Heim: Launches two-run homer

Heim went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's 5-2 loss to the Yankees.

Heim was able to get the Rangers on the board in the ninth inning, when he took Ian Hamilton deep to right field for a two-run homer. Heim has gone 4-for-10 with one home run and five RBI over his last three starts.
