Garver (ankle) started rehab Thursday but remains in a walking boot, Casey Stern of MLB Network Radio reports. He's expected to return in 2-to-3 weeks.

Garver was placed on the injured list Wednesday due to a left ankle sprain, though it would appear that he won't be activated following the 10-day minimum. If all goes well in his rehab, the 28-year-old backstop could be back by the end of May.

Bemboom (knee) was placed on the 10-day injured list Thursday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

As expected, Bemboom was sent to the IL after spraining his left knee during Wednesday's win over the Marlins. Nick Ciuffo is expected to be summoned from Triple-A Durham ahead of Friday's series opener against the Yankees to platoon alongside Travis d'Arnaud behind the dish for the time being.

McCann is not in the lineup Thursday against the Blue Jays.

McCann has started three of the past four games behind the dish for the White Sox, going 6-for-13 (.462) with a pair of doubles and three runs scored in those contests. In his place, Welington Castillo is starting at backstop in Thursday's series opener.

Maldonado is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Rangers.

Maldonado's absence is merely for rest purposes with the Royals playing a day game after a night game. The 32-year-old's defensive skills continue to earn him the overwhelming share of starts behind the plate, as he's hitting .191 across 126 plate appearances this season.

Updating a previous report, manager Kevin Cash remarked after Wednesday's game that Bemboom's knee injury is a sprain and that the catcher will be placed on the injured list, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

The young backstop exited Wednesday's win over the Marlins with what was described as left knee soreness, but the issue is apparently serious enough to warrant time on the shelf for Bemboom. Topkin also reports that the injury originally occurred when Bemboom blocked a pitch at some point during the game. Nick Ciuffo, who was just sent to Triple-A Durham last Saturday, is expected to be called back up to platoon alongside Travis d'Arnaud behind the dish.

Bemboom was removed from Wednesday's game against the Marlins with left knee soreness, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.

Bemboom made his second start behind the plate since being called up last week but was unable to finish the contest. The 29-year-old is expected to be evaluated further after the game. The Rays can ill afford another injury at catcher with Mike Zunino (quad) and Michael Perez (oblique) already on the injured list.

Sanchez is not in the lineup for Game 2 of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Orioles, Brendan Kuty of The Newark Star-Ledger reports.

Sanchez will take a seat for the second half of Wednesday's twin bill after catching all nine innings and going 2-for-3 with a walk and a homer in Game 1. Austin Romine is starting behind the dish in his place.

Jansen is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Giants.

Jansen will take a seat on the bench for Wednesday's series finale after starting the past two games behind the dish, going 0-for-6 with a walk and three strikeouts during that stretch. Luke Maile is starting at catcher and hitting eighth in this one.

The Twins placed Garver (ankle) on the 10-day injured list Wednesday.

The transaction doesn't come as a major surprise after Garver exited in the eighth inning of Tuesday's win with a high left ankle sprain. The Twins haven't released a timetable for Garver's return, but for what it's worth, manager Rocco Baldelli said the backstop's MRI results were "pretty positive," according to Dan Hayes of The Athletic. Jason Castro and Willians Astudillo will share catching duties for the Twins while Garver is out for at least the next week and a half.

Garver (ankle) is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Angels, Brandon Warne of ZoneCoverage.com reports.

Garver's absence is entirely unsurprising after he exited Tuesday's contest with a high left ankle sprain, which he sustained in a home-plate collision. The Twins have thus far held off on moving Garver to the injured list, but that could become a more realistic outcome if he fails to demonstrate much meaningful progress heading into the weekend. Jason Castro will step in to handle catching duties in the series finale.
