Twins' Christian Vazquez: Back on bench Monday
Vazquez is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Guardians.
Due in large part to injuries decimating the Twins' depth in recent days, Vazquez had started at catcher in each of the last three games, while top backstop Ryan Jeffers served as the team's designated hitter in all of those contests. However, with Harrison Bader returning from a groin injury Saturday and with Willi Castro (knee) back in the lineup Monday after a two-game absence, Vazquez will retreat to the bench. Vazquez's playing time could be more sporadic moving forward while Jeffers likely sees most of his starts behind the dish and the Twins instead opting to rotate a number of players at the DH spot.

Luke Maile C | KC
Royals' Luke Maile: Exiting 40-man roster
The Royals designated Maile for assignment Monday.
Maile came up at the beginning of May when Salvador Perez was unable to catch due to a hip issue and stuck around a bit as a third catcher even after Perez was cleared to don the catcher's gear. However, the Royals now have a better use for the roster spot. There's a good chance Maile clears waivers.

Yainer Diaz C | HOU
Astros' Yainer Diaz: Pops fifth homer
Diaz went 1-for-4 with a solo home run Sunday against the Rangers.
Diaz popped his fifth home run of the season, three of which have come in May. He's provided well-rounded production across 16 games in the month, as he's hitting .292 with 10 RBI and seven runs scored. All of Diaz's overall numbers are lagging relative to expectations, but he has gotten on track at the plate after a poor start to the campaign.

Travis d'Arnaud C | LAA
Angels' Travis d'Arnaud: Hits clutch homer
D'Arnaud went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and an RBI single during Sunday's 6-4 win over the Dodgers.
D'Arnaud lifted a go-ahead homer in the eighth inning off Anthony Banda, helping the Halos pull off the series sweep of their Los Angeles counterparts. The performance snapped a four-game hitting drought for d'Arnaud, who went 0-for-15 with seven strikeouts during that stretch. D'Arnaud is slashing .200/.250/.317 in 64 plate appearances this season while operating as Logan O'Hoppe's backup.

Logan O'Hoppe C | LAA
Angels' Logan O'Hoppe: Getting Sunday off
O'Hoppe is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Dodgers, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.
O'Hoppe started the first two games of the series but will sit for the finale in Los Angeles after going 2-for-5 with a home run and five RBI in Saturday's high-scoring victory. Travis d'Arnaud will step in behind the plate to catch for lefty Yusei Kikuchi on Sunday.

Carlos Narvaez C | BOS
Red Sox's Carlos Narvaez: Getting breather Sunday
Narvaez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against Atlanta, Christopher Smith of MassLive.com reports.
The 26-year-old appears to have taken hold of the starting gig behind the plate in Boston, as he has a .991 OPS through 11 games in May and had started four straight games coming into Sunday. Connor Wong will catch for Brayan Bello in the series finale versus Atlanta.

Logan O'Hoppe C | LAA
Angels' Logan O'Hoppe: Drives in five in win
O'Hoppe went 2-for-5 with a home run and five RBI in Saturday's 11-9 win over the Dodgers.
O'Hoppe had hit a skid recently, going just 2-for-27 with a walk, 10 strikeouts and two RBI over his previous eight games. He quickly made an impact Saturday, delivering a two-run single in the first inning before tacking on a three-run homer in the seventh. O'Hoppe's already at 10 homers this year, halfway to matching his career-best total from 136 games in 2024. The catcher has added a .254/.289/.485 slash line with 23 RBI, 14 runs scored, one double and no stolen bases over 38 contests this season.

Ryan Jeffers C | MIN
Twins' Ryan Jeffers: Racks up four hits Saturday
Jeffers went 4-for-5 with a solo home run, an additional run and a double in Saturday's 7-0 win against the Brewers.
Jeffers gave Minnesota an early lead with a 420-foot solo blast in the first inning. He added three more knocks to log his first four-hit game of the campaign. The veteran catcher is hitting well with a .270/.350/.418 slash line through 137 plate appearances on the season. However, he's gone deep just three times after slugging 21 home runs last year.
