Yainer Diaz C | HOU
Astros' Yainer Diaz: Sitting Wednesday
Diaz is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Mariners.
Diaz has been one of the bigger disappointments among fantasy catchers so far this season; he's gone 2-for-33 with no home runs, one RBI and one run scored through the Astros' first 11 games. Though Diaz will be given a breather for the day game after a night game, the Astros will likely continue to allow the 26-year-old to play through his struggles, given the strong production he's provided over the past two seasons.

Victor Caratini C | MIN
Astros' Victor Caratini: Getting fourth start of season
Caratini will start at catcher and bat sixth in Wednesday's game against the Mariners.
Caratini will receive his fourth start through the Astros' first 12 games of the season while Yainer Diaz gets the afternoon off. Diaz has mustered a lowly .200 OPS through 36 plate appearances, but after batting .299 with 16 home runs in 148 games in 2024, he likely has a long leash as the Astros' No. 1 backstop.

Brian Serven C | ATH
Tigers' Brian Serven: Starting rehab assignment
Serven (oblique) will begin a rehab assignment with Single-A Lakeland on Wednesday, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.
Serven has been cleared for game action after suffering a left oblique strain in early March. He will eventually be assigned to Triple-A Toledo, where he'll offer catching depth.

Jake Rogers C | DET
Tigers' Jake Rogers: Out at least one month
Tigers manager A.J. Hinch said Wednesday that he expects Rogers (oblique) to be sidelined for at least a month, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.
Hinch indicated that the timetable he provided was an approximation, but at the very least, it's not going to be a minimum-length stay on the 10-day injured list for the catcher. Dillon Dingler will be the Tigers' primary backstop while Rogers is on the shelf.

Austin Wells C | NYY
Yankees' Austin Wells: Getting Wednesday off
Wells is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Tigers.
Wells will take a seat for just the second time in 12 games this season as the Yankees wrap up their series in Detroit with a matinee contest. J.C. Escarra will receive the start behind the plate, catching for starting pitcher Max Fried.

Dillon Dingler C | DET
Tigers' Dillon Dingler: Goes yard, should play regularly
Dingler went 2-for-3 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 5-0 win over the Yankees.
With Jake Rogers suffering an oblique strain while warming up prior to the game and landing on the injured list, Dingler stepped into the lineup and should see the bulk of the playing time behind the dish for the foreseeable future. He made the most of his appointment into the starting nine Tuesday, capping a three-run fourth inning with a solo blast off Carlos Carrasco. Despite having been on the shorter end of a timeshare with Rogers through the first 11 games of the season, Dingler ranks second on the team with seven RBI.

Alejandro Kirk C | TOR
Blue Jays' Alejandro Kirk: Receiving rest day
Kirk is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Red Sox after fouling a pitch off his lower leg Monday, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.
Manager John Schneider said it was already a planned day off for Kirk, but it's still worth keeping an eye on the catcher's status heading into Wednesday's contest. Tyler Heineman is starting behind the plate and batting eighth Tuesday.

Logan O'Hoppe C | LAA
Angels' Logan O'Hoppe: Getting night off Tuesday
O'Hoppe is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Rays, Erica Weston of Bally Sports West reports.
O'Hoppe has started seven of the Angels' first nine games to open the year, but Travis d'Arnaud will catch Kyle Hendricks in Tuesday's series opener. O'Hoppe had a monster weekend series against the Guardians, homering in all three games versus Cleveland. On the young season, O'Hoppe is slashing .345/.367/.862 with five long balls, nine RBI and five runs scored across 30 trips to the plate.

Blake Sabol C | BOS
Red Sox's Blake Sabol: Recalled from Triple-A
The Red Sox recalled Sabol from Triple-A Worcester on Tuesday, Mac Cerullo of the Boston Herald reports.
Sabol will be No. 2 behind Carlos Narvaez on Boston's catching depth chart while Connor Wong (finger) is out. The 27-year-old has slashed .243/.313/.392 over 121 career games at the major-league level.

Connor Wong C | BOS
Red Sox's Connor Wong: IL move made official
The Red Sox placed Wong on the 10-day injured list Tuesday with a fractured left finger, Mac Cerullo of the Boston Herald reports.
Wong suffered the injury Monday versus the Blue Jays when his hand was hit by a bat on a catcher's interference. It's not yet clear how long he will be sidelined, but it will surely be more than a minimum stay on the IL. Carlos Narvaez will be Boston's primary catcher while Wong is out and Blake Sabol has been recalled to back Narvaez up.
