  • Jose Trevino C | CIN

Yankees' Jose Trevino: Swipes bag in return

Trevino went 1-for-3 with a double, a stolen base and a walk in Friday's 3-0 victory versus the Tigers.

Trevino was activated from the injured list during New York's off day Thursday after missing over a month due to a quad injury. The backstop was given a start Friday and walked in his first plate appearance, and he followed the free pass with a surprising steal of second base. It was his first theft since 2022 and just his fourth over seven big-league campaigns. Trevino will likely work in a backup role behind Austin Wells now that he is back in action.

  • Cal Raleigh C | SEA

    Mariners' Cal Raleigh: Resting Saturday

Raleigh is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Pirates.

Raleigh has gone 0-for-11 with two walks and three strikeouts across his last three outings, and he will begin Saturday's contest in the dugout. Mitch Garver will start behind home plate and bat eighth against Pittsburgh southpaw Bailey Falter.

  • Angels' Logan O'Hoppe: Belts game-tying homer

    O'Hoppe went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Friday's 3-2 win over Atlanta.

Entering Friday, O'Hoppe was 0-for-28 with three walks and 13 strikeouts over his last seven games. He put the slump to rest with a game-tying blast in the fourth inning, which was his 17th homer of the season. The catcher has added a .256/.314/.434 slash line with 48 RBI, 51 runs scored, 13 doubles, a triple and two stolen bases over 104 contests. O'Hoppe still has some work to do to get back on track -- he was hitting .281 at the end of July -- but he can loosen his grip a bit now that he's ended his dry spell.

  • Orioles' Adley Rutschman: Scratched from lineup

Rutschman (back) has been scratched from Friday's lineup against the Red Sox.

Rutschman was a late scratch due to low back discomfort, per Matt Weyrich of The Baltimore Sun. James McCann will start behind the plate and bat ninth.

  • Athletics' Shea Langeliers: Adds three more hits Thursday

Langeliers went 3-for-4 with a double, a walk and a run scored in Thursday's 7-6 win over the Mets.

Langeliers has been on a tear recently, picking up three or more hits in three of his last four contests. He's gone 11-for-15 with three doubles and a home run in that span after going just 2-for-24 in his previous seven games. Langeliers has boosted his slash line to .230/.295/.468 through 396 plate appearances this year with 22 homers, 61 RBI, 43 runs scored and four stolen bases.

  • Yankees' Carlos Narvaez: Optioned to Triple-A

The Yankees optioned Narvaez to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Thursday.

With Jose Trevino (quad) returning from the injured list Thursday and claiming the backup catcher spot, Narvaez will be pushed back to the minor leagues. The 25-year-old appeared in six games during his latest stint in the majors, going 3-for-13 with six strikeouts. Should Trevino or Austin Wells need to miss an extended period of time down the stretch, Narvaez would almost certainly be called upon to rejoin the Yankees.

  • Jose Trevino C | CIN

Yankees' Jose Trevino: Activated from IL

The Yankees reinstated Trevino (quad) from the 10-day injured list Thursday.

Manager Aaron Boone said earlier Thursday that Trevino would be activated off the IL ahead of Friday's series opener against the Tigers, and the Yankees have now made the roster move official during the team's day off. The 31-year-old catcher will work as a backup while Austin Wells continues to receive the majority of starts behind the dish, and Carlos Narvaez will be optioned back to Triple-A in order to clear a roster spot.

  • Ryan Jeffers C | MIN

    Twins' Ryan Jeffers: Resting Thursday

Jeffers isn't in the Twins' lineup for Thursday's game against the Rangers.

Jeffers went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts during Wednesday's contest, snapping his brief three-game hitting streak, and he'll now take a seat as he continues to split time behind the dish with Christian Vazquez.

  • Jose Trevino C | CIN

Yankees' Jose Trevino: Expected back Friday

Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Thursday on "Foul Territory" that Trevino (quad) will be activated from the 10-day injured list Friday.

Boone also reiterated that Austin Wells would continue to see the bulk of the playing time at catcher after Trevino returns. Trevino has been sidelined since mid-July due to a Grade 2 left quad strain and has gone 2-for-8 in three rehab games with Double-A Somerset.

  • Matt Thaiss C | TB

Angels' Matt Thaiss: Swats second homer

Thaiss went 2-for-3 with a solo home run in Wednesday's loss to the Blue Jays.

Thaiss produced one of just two extra-base hits for Los Angeles in the defeat, smacking a solo shot to center field in the fifth inning. The backstop was in the lineup for the third time in five days -- twice he's worked behind the plate, and once he was the DH -- as his playing time has been slightly ticking up. Thaiss has earned the increased at-bats by slashing .342/.435/.474 with seven RBI, four runs, a 7:9 BB:K and three stolen bases over 12 contests since the beginning of July.
