Rutschman is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Mets, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

The 26-year-old missed two games over the weekend due to back soreness but returned to the lineup for the previous two contests and went 1-for-7 with a solo homer. Rutschman will return to the bench for Tuesday's contest for what is presumably a maintenance day. James McCann will step in behind the plate to catch for righty Dean Kremer.

Rogers isn't in the Tigers' lineup for Tuesday's game against the Cubs, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.

The Tigers seem to be comfortable alternating between Rogers and Dillon Dingler at catcher, and Tuesday will mark Dingler's turn to start behind the dish.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Tuesday that Trevino will start against "most" left-handers moving forward, Max Goodman of The Newark Star-Ledger reports.

It looks to be a natural platoon situation at catcher, with Austin Wells handling the starts against right-handers. Boone did add that Wells will see the occasional start versus lefties, including likely being in the lineup Wednesday against a southpaw. Trevino is in Tuesday's lineup against Guardians lefty Matthew Boyd.

Wong is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against Houston.

After making five consecutive starts -- three at catcher, two at DH -- Wong will take a seat Tuesday. In his place, Danny Jansen will catch and Masataka Yoshida will DH as the Red Sox take on Ronel Blanco and the Astros.

Wells is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against Cleveland.

The lefty-hitting Wells will yield to Jose Trevino behind the dish Tuesday against Matthew Boyd and the Guardians. Wells has been on the bench in three of the Yankees' four games since Trevino was activated from the IL, with two of those absences coming against a left-hander.

Perez went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBI in Monday's 5-3 win over the Angels.

Perez opened the scoring with an RBI single in the third inning and then added a two-run double in the seventh that sealed the win for the Royals. The catcher has been as steady as ever in August, going 17-for-61 (.279) with 12 RBI over 16 contests this month. He's up to a .278/.336/.472 slash line with 22 home runs, 85 RBI, 50 runs scored and 22 doubles through 122 games this season.

Diaz went 2-for-5 with a solo walk-off home run and an additional run in Monday's 5-4 win against the Red Sox.

Diaz broke a 4-4 tie and sent the Astros home with a win on a 401-foot shot off Kenley Jansen in the ninth inning. It was the second straight game with a long ball for Diaz, who has gone deep four times in his past 10 contests. Diaz had just 10 homers across 103 games prior to the recent power surge.

The Rays selected Brantly's contract from Triple-A Durham on Monday, Tricia Whitaker of Bally Sports Sun reports.

He'll serve as the backup catcher behind Alex Jackson while Ben Rortvedt (personal) is away on paternity leave. Brantly is a career .225/.287/.326 hitter over parts of eight big-league seasons and sports a .741 OPS with Durham in 2024.

The Rays placed Rortvedt on the paternity list Monday, Tricia Whitaker of Bally Sports Sun reports.

Rortvedt can miss up to three games while he tends to more important matters. Rob Brantly has been brought up from Triple-A Durham to help Alex Jackson out at catcher.

Jeffers is out of the lineup for Monday's game against San Diego.

Jeffers will give way to Christian Vazquez behind the plate Monday against Michael King and the Padres. Jeffers is slashing .231/.311/.464 with a career-high 19 home runs in 367 plate appearances.
