  • Cal Raleigh C | SEA

    Mariners' Cal Raleigh: Resting Thursday

Raleigh is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Guardians.

Raleigh had started in each of the last five games and was behind the plate Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday, so he'll be given a maintenance day as the Mariners wrap up their series in Cleveland. Mitch Garver will pick up a start at catcher Thursday.

  • Bo Naylor C | CLE

Guardians' Bo Naylor: Getting afternoon off

Naylor is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Mariners.

Naylor had either started at catcher or designated hitter in each of the Guardians' last five contests, so he'll be getting a breather Thursday while Cleveland wraps up its series with Seattle with a day game after a night game. David Fry will step in behind the plate while Naylor rests.

  • Astros' Victor Caratini: Exits with leg injury

Caratini was removed from Wednesday's game against the White Sox due to left leg discomfort, Julia Morales of AT&T SportsNet Southwest reports.

Caratini made an awkward slide into home plate during the third inning, and he was replaced behind the dish once the Astros took the field in the bottom of the frame. The severity of the backstop's injury remains unknown, but it's possible he sits out a game or two in order to recover.

  • Ben Rortvedt C | NYM

Rays' Ben Rortvedt: Added to lineup

Rortvedt will start at catcher and bat eighth Wednesday against the Twins, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Rortvedt was originally slated to receive a day off Wednesday versus Joe Ryan and the Twins, but he will instead replace Alex Jackson behind the dish as a late addition to Tampa Bay's lineup. Rortvedt has slashed .222/.300/.370 with a homer and five RBI across 30 plate appearances since the start of June.

  • Ben Rortvedt C | NYM

Rays' Ben Rortvedt: Getting day off

Rortvedt is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Twins.

The lefty-hitting Rortvedt typically sits against left-handed pitchers, but he'll head to the bench Wednesday against righty Joe Ryan, affording Alex Jackson a turn behind the dish. Rortvedt looks to be receiving some routine maintenance after he had started at catcher in each of the Rays' last three games.

  • Connor Wong C | BOS

Red Sox's Connor Wong: Sitting again Wednesday

Wong is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Blue Jays, Mac Cerullo of the Boston Herald reports.

After making four consecutive starts behind the plate, Wong finds himself on the bench for the second game in a row. Wong still looks to be the Red Sox's No. 1 catcher, but manager Alex Cora may have wanted to reward backup Reese McGuire with another start after he drew two walks in Tuesday's 4-3 win.

  • Ryan Jeffers C | MIN

Twins' Ryan Jeffers: Heading to bench Wednesday

Jeffers is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rays.

With solid counting statistics (12 home runs, two stolen bases, 37 RBI and 28 runs) and a non-toxic batting average (.234), Jeffers has been one of the top fantasy catchers this season, but he's started to lose some of his shine in recent weeks. He's slashing just .153/.240/.259 overall since May 15, and his ongoing struggles at the dish have begun to cost him some playing time. He'll give way Wednesday to Christian Vazquez, who remains the Twins' No. 2 catcher but seems to have moved his way into more of a timeshare with Jeffers behind the dish.

  • Yankees' Agustin Ramirez: Moves up to Triple-A

The Yankees promoted Ramirez from Double-A Somerset to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Wednesday.

Ramirez, 22, earned the promotion by slashing .290/.372/.570 with 16 home runs and 13 stolen bases over 58 games with Somerset. He plays catcher and first base and will slide into a spot on the Triple-A roster vacated by Ben Rice, who was called up by the Yankees on Tuesday.

  • Carson Kelly C | CHC

    Tigers' Carson Kelly: Resting Wednesday

Kelly is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against Atlanta, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Kelly will hit the bench for Wednesday's day game after he caught eight innings of Tuesday night's 2-1 loss while going 0-for-3 with a walk. Jake Rogers will spell Kelly behind the plate for the series finale.

  • Jonah Heim C | ATL

Rangers' Jonah Heim: Returns to action

Heim went 1-for-4 in Tuesday's 7-6 loss to the Mets.

Heim returned from a paternity leave Tuesday and was back in the lineup as the catcher. He's batting .235/.278/.341 with six home runs, 31 RBI, one steal and 22 runs scored over 241 plate appearances.
