  • Carson Kelly C | CHC

Tigers' Carson Kelly: Homers, scores thrice in win

Kelly went 3-for-4 with a solo home run and two additional runs scored in Saturday's 13-5 win over the Astros.

Kelly has logged three multi-hit efforts over six games in June, going 7-for-22 (.318) this month. The homer was his first since May 26. The veteran catcher is slashing .246/.326/.364 with three homers, 15 RBI, 12 runs scored, three doubles and a triple over 51 contests this season. Kelly and Jake Rogers continue to see a fairly even split of playing time behind the plate, though Kelly has had the stronger bat in 2024.

  • Angels' Logan O'Hoppe: Homers in win

O'Hoppe went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in a 4-3 win over the Giants on Saturday.

O'Hoppe singled in the fourth inning then tied the game with a two-run home run off Keaton Winn in the sixth. O'Hoppe has gone 15-for-29 during an eight-game hit streak and now has an extra-base hit in six straight contests. On the season, O'Hoppe is slashing .284/.335/.476 with nine home runs and 31 RBI in 225 plate appearances.

  • Royals' Salvador Perez: Could be back Sunday

Perez has a right knee sprain but is expected to be back in the lineup Sunday against the Dodgers or Tuesday against Oakland, Joel Goldberg of Bally Sports Kansas City reports.

An MRI revealed Perez is dealing with just a minor sprain and some inflammation in his right knee, which is encouraging news after he was pulled from Friday's game against Los Angeles. While Perez is expected to be back in the lineup as soon as Sunday, it's possible he'll DH for a few games to get his knee back to full strength, especially after the Royals called up Austin Nola on Saturday.

  • Austin Nola C | COL

Royals' Austin Nola: Back in big leagues

The Royals recalled Nola from Triple-A Omaha on Saturday.

With Salvador Perez battling a knee injury, Nola will join the big-league roster to provide catching depth behind Freddy Fermin. While it's unclear how long Perez will be sidelined, Nola should be in the mix to make his 2024 MLB debut in the coming days.

  • Royals' Salvador Perez: On bench Saturday

Perez (knee) isn't in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Dodgers.

Perez was pulled from Friday's game with right knee discomfort and will be held out of the lineup Saturday, giving way to Freddy Fermin behind the dish. While it's unclear how severe Perez's injury is, the Royals felt the need to call up catcher Austin Nola from Triple-A Omaha, indicating Perez could miss multiple games.

  • Sam Huff C | BAL

Rangers' Sam Huff: Back in big leagues

The Rangers recalled Huff from Triple-A Round Rock on Saturday.

Huff will return to the major-league roster, giving the Rangers some extra insurance at catcher while top backstop Jonah Heim (personal) is away from the team on paternity leave. Andrew Knizner is likely to serve as the Rangers' primary catcher while Heim is out.

  • Jonah Heim C | ATL

Rangers' Jonah Heim: Placed on paternity list

Texas placed Heim on the paternity list Saturday.

Heim will be away from the team for up to three days as he awaits the birth of his third child. In the meantime, fellow catcher Sam Huff was called up from Triple-A Round Rock to replace Heim on the major-league roster.

  • Jose Trevino C | CIN

Yankees' Jose Trevino: Day off Saturday

Trevino is not in the starting lineup Saturday versus the Red Sox.

Trevino will get a day off after he went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 8-1 win. Austin Wells will take over at catcher and bat eighth against Boston.

  • Athletics' Shea Langeliers: Day off Saturday

Langeliers is not in the starting lineup Saturday versus the Twins.

Langeliers will get a breather after he went 4-for-13 with a grand slam and five RBI while starting the last three contests. Kyle McCann will take over behind the plate and bat eighth against Minnesota.

  • Athletics' Shea Langeliers: Belts grand slam Friday

Langeliers went 1-for-5 with a grand slam in an extra-inning loss to the Twins on Friday.

Langeliers got the Athletics' night started on the right foot with his 408-foot shot to left center in the first inning that cleared the bases and established an early 4-0 lead. The backstop's big homer was his first since May 30, and it marked his fourth time hitting safely in the last five games. Langeliers pushed his OPS back up to .708 as well, but he's still carrying a paltry .204 average and .263 on-base percentage.
