Blue Jays' Brian Serven: Set to make Blue Jays debut
Serven will start at catcher and hit in the No. 8 spot in Saturday's game against Tampa Bay.
After being DFA'd by the Rockies and Cubs over the offseason, Serven joined the Blue Jays in January. He managed to make the Opening Day roster with Danny Jansen (wrist) starting the season on the 10-day injured list. After Alejandro Kirk started the first two games, Serven will start at catcher Saturday and face Rays right-hander Zack Littell.

Kirk is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against Tampa Bay.
Kirk started at catcher for the first two games of the season, but he will head to the bench Saturday while Brian Serven gets the start. Kirk has begun the season going 1-for-6 with three RBI and one walk, and he will be the top catcher for the Blue Jays due to Danny Jansen (wrist) starting 2024 on the 10-day IL.

Athletics' Kyle McCann: Will make MLB debut Saturday
McCann will start at catcher and bat seventh in Saturday's game against the Guardians.
McCann won the No. 2 catcher job behind Shea Langeliers after the Athletics optioned Tyler Soderstrom to Triple-A Las Vegas. While McCann struggled in spring training, he finished the 2023 season slashing .270/.351/.474 with 17 home runs and 57 RBI over 388 plate appearances in Triple-A. He'll get his first taste of major-league action against Guardians right-hander Tanner Bibee.

Rogers is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the White Sox.
Rogers was the Opening Day catcher for Detroit on Thursday, when he went 0-for-4 with one strikeout. Carson Kelly will draw the start behind the plate and bat seventh against White Sox right-hander Michael Soroka.

Rays' Ben Rortvedt: Makes Rays debut
Rortvedt went 2-for-3 with a walk and two runs scored Friday against the Blue Jays.
The Rays acquired Rortvedt on Wednesday, and he quickly drew his first start behind the dish while batting eighth. Rene Pinto is expected to serve as the team's primary catcher, but it's not yet clear what the workload split between them will be.

Guardians' Austin Hedges: Sitting Friday vs. Oakland
Hedges is not in the Guardians' lineup for Friday's contest against the Athletics.
Hedges drew the start at catcher for Opening Day, and he finished 1-for-4 with one run, one RBI and one strikeout. Lefty Bo Naylor will be behind home plate Friday and bat seventh with the Athletics starting right-hander Ross Stripling.

Fry is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Athletics.
Fry was the Opening Day designated hitter and finished 3-for-4 with a double, two runs and an RBI. It was a great start to 2024 for the 28-year-old, but with Ross Stripling on the mound Friday for the A's, Estevan Florial will start at DH and bat eighth for the Guardians.

Wong isn't in the Red Sox's lineup Friday against the Mariners, Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald reports.
Wong went 2-for-4 with an RBI on Opening Day, but he will retreat to the bench for Boston's second game of the season. The Sox will instead deploy the lefty-hitting Reese McGuire at catcher with right-hander George Kirby on the mound for Seattle.
