Cesar Salazar C | HOU
Astros' Cesar Salazar: Called up Friday
Salazar was called up from Triple-A Sugar Land on Friday, Julia Morales of AT&T SportsNet Southwest reports.
After being sent down to Sugar Land on Monday, Salazar will return to the big leagues and replace Yordan Alvarez (oblique) on the 26-man roster after Alvarez was placed on the 10-day injured list Friday. Salazar has gone 2-for-14 with a run scored over limited action with the Astros this season and he'll likely operate as an additional bat off the bench while drawing an occasional start behind the plate. His addition to the roster could be a sign Houston plans to give Yainer Diaz more time at DH while Alvarez is sidelined.

Yainer Diaz C | HOU
Astros' Yainer Diaz: Starting at designated hitter
Diaz is starting at designated hitter and batting eighth Friday in Cleveland.
If you want to squint for a silver lining following the Yordan Alvarez (oblique) injury, it's that Diaz should see more opportunities in the DH spot. He's already been catching more of late and has a 1.029 OPS, with all three of his home runs coming in his last 35 plate appearances.

Eric Haase C | SF
Tigers' Eric Haase: Sitting Friday
Haase isn't starting Friday against the Diamondbacks.
Haase's slump at the plate has begun to cost him significant playing time, as he's been phased out of the picture in left field and DH while splitting starts behind the plate with Jake Rogers. Rogers will start Friday and bat eighth.

Alejandro Kirk C | TOR
Blue Jays' Alejandro Kirk: On bench Friday
Kirk is out of the starting lineup Friday against the Twins.
Tyler Heineman will catch and bat ninth versus the Twins and right-hander Sonny Gray. Kirk has posted a relatively disappointing .260/.350/.351 slash line with three home runs and 18 RBI through 51 games (177 plate appearances) this season for the Blue Jays.

Adley Rutschman C | BAL
Orioles' Adley Rutschman: Two hits in winning effort
Rutschman went 2-for-5 with a run scored in Thursday's 6-3 victory over Milwaukee.
The 25-year-old is now batting .372 (16-for-43) with a .903 OPS over his last 11 games. Rutschman has played nearly every day in his sophomore campaign, serving as the DH when taking a break from catching duties. He's slashing .283/.399/.425 with eight homers, 21 runs scored and 28 RBI while tallying more walks (45) than strikeouts (38).

Yasmani Grandal C | PIT
White Sox's Yasmani Grandal: Sitting out afternoon game
Grandal is not in the lineup for the first game of Thursday's doubleheader against the Yankees.
It will be the second straight game on the bench for Grandal, although he will surely catch during the nightcap. Seby Zavala will be behind the plate for the matinee.

Mitch Garver DH | SEA
Rangers' Mitch Garver: Taking seat Wednesday
Garver is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cardinals.
Garver will get a day off after he went 6-for-16 with three extra-base hits and a pair of walks while starting each of the past four games. Though Jonah Heim is entrenched as Texas' top option behind the plate, Garver should remain the Rangers' preferred designated hitter while he's wielding a hot bat.

Danny Jansen C | TEX
Blue Jays' Danny Jansen: Rehab assignment coming soon
Jansen (groin) is on track to begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Buffalo over the weekend and could be activated from the 10-day injured list as soon as Tuesday, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.
After he was able to do sprinting work on the field Monday, Jansen took another incremental step forward in his recovery from the left groin strain by running the bases Wednesday. He'll likely get reassessed Thursday, and if he checks out fine, the Blue Jays could map out a minor-league rehab schedule for him. Whenever he's ready to return from the IL, Jansen will likely resume sharing catching duties with Alejandro Kirk.

Martin Maldonado C | SD
Astros' Martin Maldonado: Heads to bench Wednesday
Maldonado is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Blue Jays.
Maldonado will give way behind the plate to Yainer Diaz for the second time in the series. Though the Astros laud Maldonado for his work as a game caller and pitch framer, his .577 OPS and career-worst 31.8 percent strikeout rate have made it difficult for fantasy players to wring much value from him.
