Jake Rogers C | DET
Tigers' Jake Rogers: Resumes throwing
Rogers (elbow) recently started a throwing progression and is currently playing catch from up to 60 feet, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Rogers, who underwent Tommy John surgery on his right elbow in September 2021, is aiming to be a full participant for spring training. He was already cleared for full hitting work shortly after the All-Star break this past season, but because he's regarded as a defense-first catcher, he wouldn't have offered much value as a designated hitter if the Tigers chose to activate him from the 60-day injured list. Expect the Tigers to reinstate him from the IL and tender him a 2023 contract before the Nov. 18 deadline, and if all goes well this offseason as he advances through his throwing progression, Rogers could be a candidate to make the Opening Day roster. With Tucker Barnhart becoming a free agent this winter, Eric Haase currently sits atop the Tigers' depth chart at catcher.

Orioles' Anthony Bemboom: No longer on 40-man roster
Bemboom was outrighted to Triple-A Norfolk on Friday, Rich Dubroff of BaltimoreBaseball.com reports.

Korey Lee C | CHW
Astros' Korey Lee: Joins roster for World Series
Lee was added to the Astros' World Series roster on Saturday, Marly Rivera of ESPN.com reports.
Lee will join the team in place of Yuli Gurriel, who suffered a knee injury in Game 5. He's unlikely to be anything more than injury insurance behind the plate, allowing Christian Vazquez to serve as the designated hitter while Trey Mancini takes Gurriel's spot at first base.

Chad Wallach C | ATH
Angels' Chad Wallach: Removed from 40-man roster
Wallach cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Salt Lake on Thursday.
Wallach spent most of the season at Salt Lake and won't retain his spot on the 40-man roster through the offseason. He had a .219/.304/.361 slash line in 89 games at Triple-A and appeared in 12 major-league games.

Astros' Martin Maldonado: Resting in Game 4
Maldonado is out of the lineup Wednesday for Game 4 of the World Series matchup with the Phillies, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Maldonado will take a seat after he was behind the plate for each of the Astros' last four postseason games. Christian Vazquez will catch for starting pitcher Cristian Javier in Game 4.

Anthony Bemboom C | DET
Orioles' Anthony Bemboom: Gets deal with O's for 2022
Bemboom signed a one-year split contract with the Orioles on Wednesday, Andy Kostka of The Baltimore Sun reports.
The deal allows Bemboom to compete for a spot as a backup catcher on the Orioles' Opening Day roster while giving him some extra money if he ends up opening the season at Triple-A Norfolk. The 32-year-old Bemboom saw action in 22 games with Baltimore in 2022, slashing .115/.207/.212 across 59 plate appearances.

Cal Raleigh C | SEA
Mariners' Cal Raleigh: Dealing with hand injury
Raleigh has been playing through a broken thumb and torn ligament in his left hand, Adam Jude of the Seattle Times reports.
After the Mariners were eliminated from the postseason, Raleigh disclosed that he played through the injuries for over a month. Though there's been no official word, he will likely need surgery this offseason to repair the issues.

Mark Kolozsvary C | PHI
Orioles' Mark Kolozsvary: Grabbed off waivers by Orioles
Kolozsvary was claimed off waivers by Baltimore on Friday.
Kolozsvary reached the majors for the first time this season but didn't make a big impact, slashing .200/.238/.450 with one homer in 21 trips to the plate. He'll attempt to win a job backing up Adley Rutschman next season.

Rene Pinto C | PHI
Rays' Rene Pinto: Not on wild-card roster
Pinto was left off the Rays' 26-man roster ahead of their AL Wild Card Series with the Guardians.
With Francisco Mejia returning from the paternity list Friday, Pinto was no longer needed to serve as the backup option behind Christian Bethancourt at catcher heading into the postseason. The 25-year-old Pinto produced a .213 average with two homers, 10 RBI and five runs scored over 25 games in the big leagues this season and appears unlikely to be considered for a roster spot moving forward barring any injuries.
