  • Angels' Logan O'Hoppe: Hopes to return in 2023

O'Hoppe (shoulder) underwent surgery Tuesday and said he hopes to be able to return on the early end of his 4-to-6-month timeframe, Sam Blum of The Athletic reports.

O'Hoppe was diagnosed with a torn labrum in his left shoulder last week. The rookie catcher was off to a strong start before the injury, slashing .283/.339/.547 with four homers and 13 RBI over 59 plate appearances. O'Hoppe has a chance to return late this season, but he's a tough hold in redraft leagues given his lengthy recovery period.

  • Cal Raleigh C | SEA

Mariners' Cal Raleigh: Sitting out Thursday

Raleigh is absent from the Mariners' lineup for Thursday's game in Philadelphia, Shannon Drayer of Seattle Sports 710 AM reports.

It's a day game after a night game, so Raleigh will get some rest after making four consecutive starts. Tom Murphy will catch George Kirby.

  • Astros' Martin Maldonado: Taking seat Wednesday

Maldonado is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rays.

Maldonado is currently in the midst of an 0-for-19 skid that has dropped his season average to .143 over 63 plate appearances. He'll get a rest for the series finale while Yainer Diaz picks up a start behind the plate.

  • Royals' Salvador Perez: Sitting out Wednesday

Perez is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against Arizona.

Perez has been in the lineup for 23 of the Royals' 24 games to open the season, but he'll get a rare day off for the series finale. Freddy Fermin will handle catching duties for the Royals on Wednesday, with MJ Melendez lined up as the designated hitter after missing two games with back tightness.

  • Jose Trevino C | CIN

Yankees' Jose Trevino: Gets breather Wednesday

Trevino is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Twins, Chris Kirschner of The Athletic reports.

Trevino will get a day off after he went 2-for-8 while starting behind the plate in the first two contests of the series. Kyle Higashioka will take over at catcher and bat eighth in the series finale.

  • White Sox's Yasmani Grandal: Out with back spasms

Grandal (back) is out of the starting lineup Wednesday versus the Blue Jays.

The veteran catcher is dealing with back spasms and will now be forced to miss at least one contest while he nurses the injury. Grandal will be replaced behind the plate by Seby Zavala, who will bat seventh in the series finale with Toronto.

  • Eric Haase C | SF

    Tigers' Eric Haase: Sitting Wednesday

Haase is out of the lineup Wednesday versus the Brewers.

Haase will take a seat after he went 2-for-7 with a double, a run scored and three strikeouts over the first two games of the series. Jake Rogers will take over at catcher and bat eighth as Detroit goes for the sweep against Milwaukee.

  • Athletics' Shea Langeliers: Goes deep again

Langeliers went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in Tuesday's defeat to the Angels.

Langeliers kicked off the fifth inning with a no-doubter to left center field to bring the A's within 4-2. It was his second home run in three games and his fifth on the year. The 25-year-old is now tied for second among catchers in homers and is slashing .222/.300/.458 with 11 RBI, 11 runs and a 5:21 BB:K over 80 plate appearances.

  • Danny Jansen C | TEX

Blue Jays' Danny Jansen: Swats two home runs

Jansen went 3-for-4 with two homers, four RBI and three runs scored in Tuesday's 7-0 win over the White Sox.

Jansen notched his second and third homers of the season Tuesday, hitting a three-run home run in the third inning off Mike Clevinger and clubbing a solo homer off Tanner Banks in the sixth frame. He appears to have broken out of an early season slump, hitting 4-for-9 with three home runs, eight RBI and two runs scored in his last three games after starting the season 1-for-35. Considering Jansen is currently in a time split with Alejandro Kirk, most of his value comes in daily formats, where he is typically a cheap attachment to a strong offense, but he could push for season-long consideration if Kirk misses time or Jansen continues to carry a hot stick.

  • White Sox's Yasmani Grandal: Dealing with back spasms

White Sox manager Pedro Grifol said that Grandal was removed from Tuesday's 7-0 loss to the Blue Jays due to back spasms and is considered day-to-day, James Fegan of The Athletic reports. He went 0-for-3 with a strikeout before leaving.

The backstop was replaced by Seby Zavala in the loss. Grifol believes that Grandal could catch in an emergency, and the skipper doesn't think that the team will have to make a roster move. Even so, Grandal will most likely sit out Wednesday's series finale.
