  • Guardians' Austin Hedges: Lifts sixth homer

Hedges went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in Tuesday's 8-3 win over the Red Sox.

Hedges went yard in the second inning as the Guardians jumped on Josh Winckowski early on. The homer was Hedges' first since June 22, though he had a stint on the injured list in that span. The catcher is up to six long balls, 17 RBI, 15 runs scored, a stolen base and a double through 194 plate appearances while maintaining a .177/.237/.286 slash line.

  • White Sox's Yasmani Grandal: Posts three-hit effort

Grandal went 3-for-4 in Tuesday's 2-1 win over the Rockies.

Grandal's three hits were all singles, and he was the only White Sox batter to record multiple hits in the game. This was the catcher's second three-hit effort in his last three games. The sudden uptick in hitting has his batting average at a season-high .207 with a .564 OPS, two home runs, 17 RBI and six runs scored through 217 plate appearances.

  • Max Stassi C | SF

Angels' Max Stassi: Clubs homer Tuesday

Stassi went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 6-0 win over the Royals.

Stassi provided some extra insurance with a solo shot in the ninth inning. The catcher has gone 5-for-16 (.313) with three extra-base hits since the All-Star break. For the season, he's slashing .212/.309/.350 with six homers, 20 RBI, 22 runs scored, eight doubles and a triple through 233 plate appearances. Stassi will likely continue to see most of the playing time behind the dish over veteran Kurt Suzuki.

  • Rene Pinto C | PHI

Rays' Rene Pinto: Rejoins big-league club

Pinto was recalled from Triple-A Durham on Tuesday, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports.

The 25-year-old was sent down July 11 after Tampa Bay acquired Christian Bethancourt, but Pinto will now return to the majors with Mike Zunino (shoulder) out for the year and Francisco Mejia (shoulder) also on the injured list. Pinto has a .204/.218/.315 slash line with two home runs and eight RBI in 17 games this year and should serve as the backup option to Bethancourt behind the plate until Mejia is reinstated.

  • Rays' Francisco Mejia: Out with shoulder injury

Mejia was placed on the 10-day injured list Tuesday with right shoulder impingement, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports.

It's yet another injury for the Rays, who ruled out Mike Zunino (shoulder) and Kevin Kiermaier (hip) for the season Monday. Mejia had a .992 OPS through 14 games in July and was poised to continue seeing plenty of playing time with Zunino sidelined, but the switch-hitting catcher will now be out for at least the next 10 days. Rene Pinto was called up in a corresponding move to provide depth at catcher behind Christian Bethancourt.

  • Danny Jansen C | TEX

Blue Jays' Danny Jansen: Day off Tuesday

Jansen is not in the starting lineup Tuesday against the Cardinals.

Jansen will get a day off after he went 3-for-11 with two homers, seven RBI, four runs and a walk over two games in the series with the Red Sox. Alejandro Kirk will slide into the catcher spot while Cavan Biggio enters the lineup at first base and bats ninth in the series opener.

  • Cal Raleigh C | SEA

Mariners' Cal Raleigh: Multi-hit effort in victory

Raleigh went 2-for-4 with an RBI single in a win over the Rangers on Monday.

The young backstop mustered one of two multi-hit efforts on the night for the Mariners, his third such tally of July. Raleigh's production brought his average back up over the Mendoza Line to .205, and he's generated a solid .250/.342/.438 slash line across the 38 plate appearances he logged over his last 10 games.

  • Eric Haase C | SF

Tigers' Eric Haase: Hits grand slam Monday

Haase went 2-for-5 with a grand slam in Monday's 12-4 win over the Padres.

Haase's grand slam in the third inning broke open a 1-1 tie. The catcher now has eight home runs and 25 RBI this season, with three long balls and 10 RBI coming in 17 games this month. Haase is also batting .333 in July, and it seems like he's overtaken Tucker Barnhart as the team's primary backstop due to his superior offensive production.

  • Royals' Salvador Perez: Rehab assignment begins Tuesday

Perez (thumb) will begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Omaha on Tuesday.

Perez caught a bullpen session and participated in batting practice this weekend, and he'll return to game action Tuesday for the first time since late June. The 32-year-old underwent surgery on his left thumb June 24 and was initially expected to miss about eight weeks, but it appears likely that he'll be able to rejoin the Royals much earlier than expected.

  • Orioles' Adley Rutschman: Running hot out of break

Rutschman went 2-for-3 with a double and a walk Sunday in the Orioles' 6-0 loss to the Yankees.

Rutschman opened his big-league career by hitting just .143 in his first 15 games with Baltimore, but the 24-year-old appears to have found his comfort zone at the plate ever since. In his 34 games that have followed, Rutschman has slashed .284/.368/.560 with five home runs, 20 runs, 17 RBI and a stolen base, with his leap forward offensively coinciding with the Orioles' rise up the American League East standings. The rookie will take a five-game extra-base-hit streak into Monday's series opener with the Rays.
